I think the whole report system will not work. But it is funny how the Term #5 in the ToS allows them to monitor your system for 3rd party software. So a report or a couple could monitor it.

Like there was ever a first nail. Or a coffin. Get a grip. Bot with a brain and in moderation and you should be fine. This could be a thorn in the side of the 24/7 AFK botters, though. But for most, it's no big deal.

This feature is going to do nothing to botting. Before i started botting, when i hand farmed (yuck), i would be accused of botting. People would rant at me becuase i took thier node, won the loot roll, pretty much any time something didnt go thier way. This is going to cause huge inflation of work for GM's they arent going to have the time to look into 1 specific account becuase they will have hundreds of more reports to go over. So many kiddies are going to be raging and using this button anytime something doesnt go thier way i wouldnt be suprised if they eventually removed this feature.

HEY GUYS LET'S CRY ABOUT BLIZZARD MAKING IT EASIER TO REPORT BOTS.

If you bought HonorBuddy, let alone any other bot, you should fucking know you're not safe. It's not like it is going to be a cognitive person attending your computer for the 10-20 hours you spend AFK-botting per day. If you get banned, you get banned. Who gives a shit? I could care less if I get banned on my main account. Rinse and repeat, buy new account bot again. It's not hard. So quit friggin' crying about getting caught by the new easy report system and saying how Ralph needs to do a better job at the unstuck handler. You should already be fucking smart enough to know that botting has never been safe.

I'm not on board with the idea of reporting people for no reason just to try mess with their system. We don't know what they're going to be checking, maybe you report someone for doing nothing at all & a GM looks into their acct and sees "evidence" of 3rd party programs. Maybe that character was just standing around when you reported them but the other 90% of the time they're botting a different character.

I think this is a horrible idea on blizzards part. As someone prior stated kids are going to use it when ever they get angry at someone. Im just as scared of getting banned on my main accout (which i hardly if ever bot on.) Kids are stupid and they are going to span that button like crazy. So blizzard will inevitably remove it.

I think it's smoke and mirrors... Just like when you report people for spamming.. Nothing ever gets done. Maybe it just flags a character and with so many flags a person has action taken against them.. I don't think it's anything we need to really worry about.

Like others have said.. Bot safe, bot smart.

Can't agree more. I can't count how many times i reported ppl for spam and nothing was done. Why would be different now with bot?

Even botter hate spammers, and they keep spamming till now...

This whole thing is a scare tactic that Blizzard developed, and the idiots that thing its any more or less dangerous are falling for it, which is fine, more nodes for me. As far as the new report feature, the security of HB/GB is the same, even better now possibly, because, at first blizzard would take the time to answer tickets because only a few people would report at a time therefore they must be somewhat reliable, now not only botters are going to get reported, but non botters as well, blizzard will have to make judgment on how to sort non botters and botters now, where at first they didnt have to because they werent getting near the same amount of reports, and if someone reported before, then the person they reported were probably in fact botting. If you think about it, yes, you're going to get more reports for botting now then normal, and by normal maybe 1 or 2 times a month, now you will probably get 5 or 6 maybe more, but non botters will probably get the same amount because they in fact are the ones who steal the nodes, and that piss people off, you need to set your bot not to ninja nodes and you will avoid pissing people off, easy as that, just allow the non botters to accumulate more reports and you will be fine. Plus there are going to be so many requests there's no way blizzard will be able to handle it.

Hmm, this is a bit worrisome for me, it could be just a "scare tactic" but I'd rather be safe than sorry and lay low for a couple of days to see how this turns out. I personally think it's going to be a lot of kids reporting people for no reason and Blizzard will probably have 5 times the amount of reports to deal with every day I hope this eventually gets removed, either way I don't like this new feature.

I have a feeling it will take multiple reports over many days for this system to trigger a GM to manually review your account. Then the GM has to find evidence of botting in your account history... which for most of us we know how to avoid this. I see very little difference in this over the current system... other than the bar for manual GM account review might be lowered. Which means the GM's will be more busy sifting through piles of review backlog and will most likely just restore your account after 48 hours. So this has the potential to actually raise the bar on evidence of what they considering an account that is botting.

why are you guys so worried..its not going to be a set number of compliaints then a ban...blizz would lose so many subscribers..think about all the dicks just complaining cause they can...the GMs are gonna get so inondated that this will probably work in our favor.

Sometimes I use Combat Bot in BG's just so I can move the toon around and target, while the bot/cc worries about he rotation, priorities and cool downs. It's funny because more often than not there are one or two guys who decide it's their job to report AFKs, or to tell other people to report AFKs. I call them the hall monitors. "So and so is a leech, farming honor. Report him". They seem to look for guys who just join the BG and park their toons somewhere. They don't seem to be concerned with the two or three people I can see that are obviously botting while probably AFK, too. It's pretty funny.

I am pretty sure that Blizzard will find a lot of abuse using this system and may find they "bit off more than they can chew."
If this system is so easy to report cheating, etc. Blizzard is just going to be flooded with false alarms or just tons of complaints,; they can't possibly investigate EVERY one.

Made it about halfway through this thread, and I figured I'll throw my 2 copper in.

Like many people have already said, the feature will be so abused that it's going to take even more man hours to sort everything out. This is going to be a clusterfuck. With the advent of the new-age Facebook "troll", everyone and their brother who use the internet now consider themselves "trolls" because it's the cool thing to be. Imagine a million "trolls" clicking on every random person in trade chat and reporting them just because. I'd be willing to bet that at least 90% of the reports made with this feature in the first month are going to be against legit players.

Now the next point, the economy. I've already argued this point ad nauseum on the Blizzard forums with other Blizz fanboys.. The simple fact is that botters keep the economy stable.. Without us, demand for product would skyrocket and since there is no more supply of said product, the prices will also skyrocket. But who has that 500 gold to spend on a stack of Cinderbloom? Nobody, because the botters are gone and the gold has dried up in the first 2 weeks. Blizzard knows this, and that is the reason they don't update their software detection methods.

If Blizzard wanted to stop botting, they would implement stack tracing into Warden and all bots would be done for. But they realize that they have more to gain by having us around.

FYI it takes exactly 42 reports from DIFFERENT players to "flag" your account. So basically, no different than the one guy that went out of his way to report you. The button is more for show as in "hey guys we're fighting bots! keep paying your subscription, please!" Source is solid on that info, believe it or not, don't care.
