So today I was leveling my vanilla toons as usuall. But I got an email from blizz putting a 72 hour on one of my vanilla toons. This was a level 24 pally that was on its own server, was the only toon on the entire account, and never moved gold anywhere. It was a standard level 24 that spend no more than 6 hours a day grinding. I had loot filter on to delete greys and I sold all greens that were not upgrades. I also posted the leather at the AH every night before shutting down. So why would I get a ban? This is actually not the first time this has happened. I have had two other level pallies get banned around the same time. Each time I email blizz with a request of explanation, they unbann the account and say sorry. All of my other toons that farm, and level are unaffected. So far my RaF pallies, have never been affected. So I am trying to figure out if this was a player report, if the auto ban system somehow caught me, etc, etc, etc. I would be interested to hear your ideas.
I remember reading somewhere that Blizzard keeps check on certain mobs to see how many times they are killed and by whom... of course this is a theory as well, but maybe your Paladins have all been flagged because they ran the same profile/ have grinded the same areas and set off that red flag for Blizzard/Warden which received you the auto ban? All theory of course, but this theory could be proved / disproved.
wel im not afforting money anymore into wow i just have one account im going to play Poker and try to win some money over there wow is only taking money from us
How long you been grinding same area. Chat activity. Combat consitancy(spelling) Ah/vendor volumes Time online per account(not per toon) General interaction behaviour. Just my opinion, but i do what i can to avoid all the above.
I have run the same profiles on all my toons. Never been banned with RaF pallies, only solo pallies, So I doubt its the area. No chat activity, ever. Ah, maybe 20 stacks of leather a day. Nothing out of the ordinary, same with any RaF team I had. I bot more on my RaF team, 12 hours a day, than the solo one that got banned, about 6-8 hours a day. Besides, its a fresh 4 day old account.
There's an article on Greedy Goblin that has a good explanation for similar situations. Basically it's fairly easy to do a quick check on a character using the Armory and figure out whether they're legit or not from there. The example they used is under no doubt of being a bot so the article may help with do's and don'ts.
well, I've got a character that's been online consistantly, from 12PM Tuesday (right after the servers came up) and he's still running, no ban. I'm trying to see if I can keep him grinding until the servers go down next Tuesday, and if that dont ban me, I know it's not how long your logged in.
Aricias is doing a fun experiment. But my bans all come from HB and leveling toons, NEVER from GB. IMHO - Blizzard looks at these profiles and puts flags into to catch. A good example is the public horde profile that grinds in Tanaris. I am on a lop pop server and I very careful with HB, I've only managed to get 2 toons to 80 without a ban since last year. I really think they are putting flag that if you KILL X amount of Y targets you are reviewed. Then if you haven't completed A of B number of quests by level C - they toss out a temp ban.
Player reports you > Gm has a quick look at your stats/you > ban I still dont believe there are any triggers .... but thats just my 2cents
Aaaaaaaand thats your problem right there. I've botted from 70-80 and have even been running a bot from level 1+ nonstop for days. I NEVER AH sell anything. I dump it all into vendors, buy mediocre sized bags, and never gather stuff. I think the real issue is when you bring items and try to make gold. I honestly don't think they care if you level, but if you ever bring in the AH or gold making/trading factor and mess with their precious economy, then you are going to run into problems. Just a thought.
You bring in a valid point, blizz are very protective of there economy, and they are trying to make it easier for leveling new toons all the time, hence the boa stuff. So in away your point is pretty good. But they also frown upon mass vendoring as this in itself is exploiting its economy.
Yeah but if I make 3 levels on a character and vendor 10 greens I don't think they care. I hardly make enough gold to pay for my drinks for the next few levels.
