Well i don't know but imagine you're being kind of watched , cause a guy reported you .. but they ain't got anything against you , your just on a list waiting to come out of it and be clean again, but BAM " SECURITY UPDATE " and you go missing for a week or so , might reset your timer on the list ... I don't know

I know all the theories are kind of screwed by "And how about I went on holiday" .. so .. I really don't know ...

 

I think it must be the fact having a Bot amoungst a crowd that disturbs them ... especially the higher risk of report because of more potential spotters

 

Exactly, this line of thought in this thread is beyond ridiculous.

As been said already, the security update has nothing to do with WoW, Starcraft or Diablo - Battle.net itself has been compromised. Thus, there's absolutely no reason to change anything in the software of either of the titles above, and thus there's no reason to stop botting.

 

Someone hacked into the Blizzard database and phished a bunch of unmerged, unused, old accounts which they are now selling. The security update is for their servers, not warden.

I am not seeing anything in Blizzard's posts to suggest they are focused on bots at the moment - rather more on network security and public relations...... Embarrassing as hell losing personal information - customers tend to get upset.

 

By the level of the issue the last thing they will care about are bots. That's a security breach at their database servers, not far from WoW but far from the game itself, I will not stop my leveling routine.

Botters are not responsible for the attack, hehe.

WoW and their password databases are two different things, I suggest a password change and you're good to go!

For their support employees it might sound enough for unban the account if you're caught botting this weekend or so, but technically speaking is kinda hardcore to decrypt the passwords the way they are stored. Far different from Microsoft and Sony's PSN whom stored the passes into raw files mostly without encryption, Blizzard always cared about security due the high-lvl of breaks-in into accounts to steal items and gold.

Do not exaggerate on your botting actions, otherwise you can draw attention from whom who is responsible to report you, the other players and GMs.

Play safe, play long.

 

Yes you are right ! Because even if you were hacked due to the breach, you will then be Flaged for a while, resulting in you having to bot close to not at all if you don't want a banned account !

 

Just another thing that I forgot to mention, by alleging that someone stole your password and logged to bot on your account could imply on a more specific account analysis since the security breach is in evidence and they want to trace-back every and each suspicious activity which could lead to the authors of the attack, in other words, you gonna get your IP checked and compared to the previous login activity, which can lead or not to a confirmation that the one using the bot were you and only you.

Once again, I wouldn't use this as an excuse for it might draw attention to the account and the owner of that.

Bot wise, bot safe, remember that every and each social interactions inside and outside of the game can give you in or protect you from a ban.

 

They can't know when the bot was used and on what IP no ?
they can only see the fluctuating ip's used to connect no ?

 

They can compare from your report what IPs logged on that account, if you report that there was an invasion on your account they would as for when and what time, after that, just compare with old logs and gotcha.

 

That is why I control which IP I show when bot is active or Inactive

Changing your IP through something such as a P R O X Y will only get your accounts temp banned, unless it's a static P R O X Y. If you bot on one IP, then log in not botting from another ip, unless the IP's are very similar, it will lock your account. Funny as hell that you can't use the word P R O X Y on a botting forum.
