After noticing my account was closed today, I received an email from Blizzard:

      "***Notice of Account Closure***

      Account Name: -----------

Reason for Closure: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Abuse of
      the Economy

This account was closed because one or more characters were identified
exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold)
for "real-world" currency. This exchange process negatively impacts the World of
Warcraft game environment by detracting from the value of the in-game economy.

Even if this is the result of account sharing, the account owner can still be
held responsible for the penalty because of the impact it had on the game
      environment."

I believe it's basically stating that I have bought/sold gold on an account I've been using. But I haven't bought any gold in over a year. Also, my recent activity on this account has been mostly farming herbs occasionally, but not to an extreme extent. I have another account that I use and transfer gold/items to sometimes. Could I have a valid reason to dispute this ban? I would like some advice/criticism on the matter.

Someone told me it was thier way of fishing for people who bought sor accounts, since to reset pw you need to know the secret question, and there's no way you know some random dudes answer so the acct stays banned. atleast when my sor they asked me to reset pw before they do anything.

That might be why, I forgot to mention that I have a realID friend on the account that sells gold, I never talk to them though. And also, I have posted alot of herbs on the AH just recently before the ban. Seems like a shitty way to ban someone though. Should I open a support ticket or send an email to dispute this? Anyone have previous experience with a ban like this?

Open the ticket, play dumb. They will mostly see that you traded no gold at all and had no gold on the account, you got banned on pure supposition as it seems.

Definitely dispute it... I've had a three bans for botting, which were actually legitimate bans, and I disputed them, said I was farming to make money for our family guild, etc, etc...
Have never had a ban they wouldn't reverse.
