Spoken like somebody who has no idea how the industry works. Proprietary software gets abandoned just as regularly (if not even more often). And even worse, there is no way to pick up where the developers left off because there is no source code and no community investment.
Well, he had pneumonia and the medication he was prescribed caused an allergic reaction which made shit worse. All I know is that he is recovering but having pneumonia AND going into anaphylactic shock takes a toll on your body so we just need to back off and let the guy get some rest. As for the donations keep rolling them in, I believe that without Giles plugin this bot would be a real pain in the ass to work with.
So this means he is in recovery mode? Even IF he wont come back, id be happy to know he is getting better! I really hate it when doctors screw up...
he made db useable by noobs which in turn boosted sales... bossland should send him a little donation
It's good to hear he is accepting donations still, at least we know he is able to use a computer and has the will to get out of bed for awhile. I just hope he is in good health. If he comes back or not isn't a major concern of mine. Given the present circumstances it would be nice just to know if he makes a full recovery. As he has said before if he leaves others will pick up where he left off and the world will keep on turning. To Giles' good health and long life!!!
this thread was locked, wtf, but yeah giles is probably gone. Wish him the best and try to remember the good times of constant updates and a burning desire for jerky n beer.
A simple letter of farewell is good enough. I just can't believe he doesn't have the guts to put this development on halt officially. It's not like we wanted an apology. True legends don't just end like this.
I wish him the best. We are continuing to progress his original plugin forward so that current and future botters may enjoy what he started. Good to see so many in the community embrace and enhance what he gave us. I'm pretty new to the bot world but I can see he made a lasting impression and though he will be missed, wait for it....he won't be forgotten. To Giles.
