I know the answer is probably "Just do it", but I'm one of those nervous people. I always am either botting with my laptop on my desk while I am using my desktop computer, or in my bed watching my laptop as I am watching tv. I play an insane amount of hours per day anyway, so I'm sure that doing things for a few or several hours at once is nothing out of the ordinary for my account, as far as Blizz is concerned.

However, I am just too afraid to leave it afk! I did it once when I was leveling some pets with PokeBuddy, and even then, I was using BuddyCon to take screenshots like every 15 minutes. :p I figured that leveling pets for a few hours while I was out was about the most low risk thing I could do with the least amount of interaction from other players (being in old world and all), so it was probably my safest bet.

Seriously, I need to go to the grocery store and I don't even want to leave it alone for two hours while doing this grinding profile for Dread Amber Shards! On top of that, I don't know how long would be too long to run a grinding profile, I think that the longest I have ran one (while I have watched) is probably about two and a half hours. Mostly afraid of the "what if's" though, like what if another player bitches because I accidentally poached a mob (which still happens with don't ninja mobs checked), or what if I start looking like a bot getting hung up on scenery and doing the "unstick myself move from side to side dance".

Some of you out there are like "Yeah, I ran this grinding profile for like 8 hours straight last night and got like 90 Dread Amber Shards!", and I am just like :O

So tell me, how do you do it? :p

(Sorry if this is the wrong area to put this, I just have certain questions sometimes and reeeeeally need some answers. :p)

I realised that botting on accounts I care about was stupid and manned up.
Now I just setup my accounts the way I want them and leave them until they are ready for a change up.

There is a lot of power in assuming the worst and imagining how you handle it. Assume you do get banned. You will never see that toon again. Will you be OK?

Exactly! I suffered the same sickness when I started and then I realized that I cared about my main account. I quickly created some other acct's and only bot on them with "no" interaction to my main. Felt better ever since and I still try and be safe, but I don't stress out now :) ...haha I sound like someone at an AA conference!

I don't bot on my main account, I use another computer for bot, if gatherers or ahbuddy gets banned, very cheap to replace compared to what it makes me.

accs can get permabanned first time.

      I was like you.

I bought a bot because I was spending way too much time farming ore, herbs, and fish for the gems, flasks/potions, and feasts I provided to my raid guild as a GM. I was very nervous and would only run it when I was sitting at the computer, usually chatting in gchat and tells. I eventually became a little more comfortable with letting it run while I was asleep. Granted, this was when I was getting about four hours of sleep anyway. I also comforted myself under the false pretense that if I got banned, I could probably appeal it. (I did later get banned, not for botting as I had quit for a few weeks, but selling my friend gold and being dumb about it. I actually held the conversation in tells, told him my paypal, traded him 50k and was permabanned in two days. I appealed and got it overturned, which I was extremely thankful for because it was a 6 year old account with a lot of achieves.)

I ended up botting what I needed for the guild and selling the rest, allowing me to use gold to purchase a second account and gametime. You can do this through reputable gold buyers on places such as ownedcore (check for rep, add them on skype, only deposit through a gbank 20k at a time), although you won't get as much for your gold through these people. For example, I had a guildmate who had extra cash and gave me about $115 of goods (cash/expansion/gametime) for 75k. I sold a friend 50k for $50. When I went through the gold sellers, it was 98k for MoP and a 60 day gamecard. I used my new account to bot a herb/miner to 85 using Kick's profiles, and gathered my way to 90. My computer handles two instances of WoW fine, so I could play on my main account and bot on my second account. I didn't have to worry about watching the second one because I didn't have any real money or time invested into it, so if it got banned it wouldn't be a loss to me.

I don't really bot anymore, as I don't really have the time to play the auction house like I did. When I did, however, I made 15k a day easy after running the bot only while asleep. You will get people who threaten you and report you, and there are plugins I believe that will alert you if you receive a whisper. I was only threatened once, because I was gathering in that cave in Kun Lai. As long as you stick to open spaces where the same people don't constantly see you and you have less chance of getting stuck, I think you'll be alright. But if you really care about your account, do yourself a favor and bot yourself up a second account.

I bot on my main account. I dont care that much if it gets banned. What got me botting was that I was sick of WoW and wanting to give botting a try, and im kinda addicted to the botting now :p but if my account gets banned I can move on..

I started botting on my main acc with 4x85 and 3x90, 7k achivement points. It got banned for to many auctions. I was stupid on posted to many auctions.
But I got another wow acc on the same b.net acc, so on that wow acc I still got the achivements and mounts :).

But blizz told me that every account that use my IRL name is been watched for botting.

There was no Final warning with my account, so dont count on getting a Warning before Perm Ban. And when/if you get banned dont, I wont recommend you keep botting on a account in same IRL name..

      Happy Botting :)

watch it for a few hours, if it goes to the mailbox and repairs fine, then it should be ok afk botting.

you can use plugins which make your bot even safer.

look, find something you can trust. i know that if i bot AV and EoTs, i can run them for hours on end, because i know
      1. people dont care
      2. the bot almost never messes up
      3. the amount of honor yeild is good
      4. queue times are decent.

really the whole "how do i afk" its all about a fine line of not giving a crap, and trust.

if i was leveling a new character, i know that once i get out of the starting area kicks profiles are going to run fine probably till level 40ish, then it may need some attention, but still knowing that kinda stuff only comes from experience.
you could also get drunk and pass out or leave the house, and after a while you'll stop worrying about it.

Hey guys, I am really enjoying this thread. I myself have been using Honorbuddy in my main account but truth be told, I am scared to lose it.
I have also been making around 10k gold without the bot, only by getting cheap stuff and transforming it into expensive stuff :p

So I am thinking about buying MoP and a gamecard to a 2nd account I have with a lvl 85 warrior (miner/herber) and bot in there.
The thing is, I would want this char to keep sending me, at least, the herbs to my main account so I could make a lot of profit from them.. but I am kinda afraid that they would somehow link this 2nd account to my main, and ban both..

What are your thoughts about this? And if you're or have been, somehow, in my situation, what do you recomend me to do ?

I'd suggest transfering it through gbank. Bot gbank > your main (or alt char) withdraw (and mail to main if its on alt).
That way, if bot gets caught, I doubt they'd permaban your main. Most likely, the gatherer won't get a perma even.

If you have another computer or can run with like virtual box (even if Blizzard know that you're using a virtual box) you can say that your brother/mother/father/daughter/dog asked you to mill what you deposit in gbank. virtual box changes your mac ip(unique for each computer on a network), so they cant proove that You're the botter, and not your brother/dog/cat. But I think Apoc said they know if you use Virtualbox, but I guess if you got perma(dont bother with getting unban if you get 72hrs, it might become perma instead), you appeal and they won't put the resources in proving that you used virtual box.

That's cool, I didn't know about virtual box but it sounds awesome ! Its a shame if Blizzard knows about it tho. In my case, I don't think I'd need it, I was thinking about playing with my own account during the day, and use the bot account during the night. I can also easily change my ip address every time I want to switch between accounts. This way, might be easier for me to explain that a different person was using my bot account, even tho its on the same pc. Just some theories...

Anyway, I've added you on skype so we can have a chat when you got some time! Cheers mate and +Rep
