Okay, so as the title says, how do I keep my main account safe?

I've been considering picking up Botting again with a second account (Yes I am willing to lose this account), for the purpose of making some extra cash for my main account.

But how do I keep my main account safe from getting banned?
Should I be thinking about installing a VM on my PC and changing my MAC/IP on the VM?
Or should I just bot on my laptop and not worry about changing my IP and such? (I was using my phone to go online on my laptop with the bot before)
Have any of you ever hunted for rare mounts like TLPD or Aeonaxx and then given the mount to your main account? How did you go about doing this?
And last of all, how do I safely transfer mats, gold etc. from my bot to my main?

Any and all tips about keeping your main account from being banned are welcome! :)

Also if you could share your personal experiences with me that would be great as well ^^

      Thank you~

I've 3 Bot Accounts, 1 Trans Account and 1 Main Account.
All Bot Accounts are botting around 12 hours a day.
They all send the botted ore and herbs to the trans Account which i only use to take the mats out of the mailbox, put it in the Guildbank and log out.
I then log on my Main Account and sell all botted stuff.
      Nothing happened yet.
      No guarantee though

Edit: I NEVER EVER sell ANYTHING botted on the Auction House. I've private buyers which i send the botted Stuff by Mail and they pay me by Mail.

Thanks for the tip, I hadn't thought of that :)

For how long have you been doing that?
Also do you have different names/IPs etc. for all these accounts?

I know we don't know the way Blizz works, but I'd rather be safe than sorry when it comes to my main account.

Don't bot on it, don't sell any gold, don't use hacks and don't swear at other players.

      - If you still want to bot on it then use the search function.. There is a million of theese threads already.

I'am doing this for roughly 4 weeks now.
I'am not using different IP's and 2 of 3 Bots have nearly everything in common, race, class and even the name.
I only use my Main Account to send the farmed stuff to my private buyers.

If you really really don't want to lose that main account don't bot on it at all, seriously all the people who might post telling you different are only telling from their own experience and you only have to see the ban section to see tears from people who decided to bot on their main or have botting accounts linked to their main and banned.

So if you absolutely don't want to lose that account don't bot on it.

I wasn't planning on botting on the main account, Teveel, but on a second account :)

I have Virtualbox set up right now and WoW can run on it it seems, but I have to see how much FPS I get ingame.
The *** I have is kinda slowing down my connection speed by a ton though, which is a shame.
So I'm considering just picking up my Laptop again and just running the game through my phone internet or my normal connection, any recommendations?

Do you guys use your own name on your botting accounts by the way? Or a fake name? And why?
And any input on how you personally set up your botting rigs? (ie. different computer, ***, VMware etc.)

Sorry for all the questions :p

Personally I didn't bother when I first setup my accounts to use ***, different names and so on.
As I moved into gold selling I started up a batch of new accounts to use instead with no ties bar the actual bot computers.

      I don't know much about computers but I think what you're essentially asking is;

Q: "Can 1 person have 2 accounts be completely disconnected from one another with no traces connecting the two."?

      A: Probably not.

      Granted you could;

1.) Use a pr0xy and a different computer (mac address(I think there's software for this))

2.) Make a different Battle.net account with realistic credentials, buy your game time using prepaid cards (not credit cards or anything involving your account details).

3.) Even after all this, the link between your accounts could probably still be attained, if not through external means (though their probably are still connections, it's very hard to use the internet and have complete anonymity), then through in-game interactions; [sending large amounts of gold/materials to the same character repeatedly and often].

As much as the answer sucks it really is true. The only way to guarantee 100% that you won't be banned on your main account is to not bot at all on any account.

I think it will be very very difficult to get no links at all. Even when using a 3rd account to use as a middle man, when you are under suspicion they will probably check your transactions and find the three chars linked repeatedly.

As for me; I have two accounts. The bot account is on fake credentials, bought through a 3rd party vendor, on a separate computer and using a ***, so there should be no link there. But I am convinced that when I do attract attention to myself it will probably not help much.
Better to remain as undetected as possible then, so no public profiles or botting in busy areas.

Hmm okay, thank you for the information guys :)

Have any of you ever tried trading gold for game keys, gamecards, accounts etc.?
I know this is illegal in Blizzard's TOS but I am kinda interested in it, since it's a good way to keep a botting account supported.

I am guessing that if I buy a Gamecard from some well known seller on Ownedcore with my botting account, and use this Gamecard on my main account, there's probably some risk involved as well?

The way i look at it - if you still enjoy wow to the point where playing it, and your main account, mean enough to you that getting them banned would upset you/affect you in some way, DONT BOT.

If wow has become a chore, or you want something more out of it, or you're just sick of it to the point where you're going to bot, going to get what you want without spending hours in front of the screen, and are prepared to walk away/start new accounts should you get banned, with no hard feelings.. BOT IT UP.

Realistically, before anyone uses a bot you should consider the pros and cons of the fact that eventually you probably will get banned, because you are breaking the rules.
