I had a similar problem with DungeonBuddy and 'Root element not found'.

Using a blank profile fixed my situation. I got the code for the blank profile here, and I have attached the file I am now using successfuly to run DungeonBuddy. I use HBRelog to run DungeonBuddy. I believe you do not need to specify a profile when using DungeonBuddy, but doing so resolved the 'Root element not found' issue for me:

whatever your doing, you need to load a profile appropriate for your level range.
