forum clean up

Alright.... I am making this thread as a final stand for all of us fierce warriors and our inability to comprehend the massive mess around here. There have been threads made and some people (myself included) have even contacted staff personally. Yet here we stand in a field of bloody gore! WE WILL NOT HAVE THISSSSS! *Im sorry, Im kinda of had a Braveheart vision in my head while typing this, ill stop*

The forums are in serious need of organization. Half of the profiles dont work at all, a quarter of them are buggy, and the quarter of them that do work are somewhat buried in the rubble.

I think its pretty safe to say that everything that hasnt had a post in a month needs to be archived as it isnt going to work correctly with the latest versions. That goes for profiles and plugins. The good thing about plugins, is that there arnt tooo many of them, so in no time a few people could easily see which are still working and which arnt.

The profile section really needs a Horde/Alliance section, and all the Neutral profiles can just stay in the main folder. I just started my first alliance character yesterday and it was a pain in the ass hunting down a SEMI decent profile.

It would be easier on everyone if things were cleaned up and organized around here. It would ease some stress of those who give a lot of help and with less profiles to dig through, those that are working would probably have bugs found easier and fixed faster.

This could be left up to the site mods now or you could assign a few new low class mods to do this (people who are generally pretty active around the community).

Something like this shouldnt take but a couple hours, a day at most. No reason to keep putting this off.

/agreed. I think some people should be low class mods to enable them to clean up. I'd be more than happy to help out. So many of the profiles can be deleted. I've lost count of how many say :

"1-80 QUESTING......Well at the moment it's only 1-5 but it will be 80 soon"

Then don't get updated ever again

 

In another thread, Hawker i think it was, said that the forums are getting "cleaned up" over the next few days = D

 

the staff said many things, bossland saying he will be more active after 20 august, hawker as well
but i didnt see any difference

 

Well the post was like yesterday i think and he said the "cleanup" will take place over the next few days, so i guess we'll just have to wait and see

 

If you come across a plugin/cc/profile that no longer functions, report the post. That's the only way we will know if something is broken unless we use it ourselves.

and its maby also smart to make a difrent 1-60 leveling forum for horde n ally realy anoying looking for the ally ones between all those horde of for the horde between all these allies

I think HB needs a new tag <workswith>inside here goes the version the profile was made for</workswith>, this way Hb could scan what was between the tags and alert the user if the current version of Hb they are running may not be compatible with the profile they have loaded. This may stop some of the newer users loading outdated profiles and expecting them to work. As it is most have to be heavily modified now to work with the current HB so adding a new tag shouldn't be that painful ???

forum just needs clean up, I could help and search for the dead profiles if its needed to cut them time on doing it to be honest.
because right now I'm asking this for a couple of times, and its a pain in the butt to search a decent profile indeed. Only the latest uploaded and a hand full of a bit older profiles do work the rest is just out of date.

This is just the list of 1-60 profiles, it hurts my fingers. There some good profiles in these threads but never got updated. Some where empty posts others where removed.
these threads are more then 2 months old some even from start this years, profiles that aren't with new tags and untouched for a while, or posts that where in the wrong section.
Also wondering why people keep making threads about there project 1-80, maybe wait with it till it's complete or something like that instead of having 100 threads on projects.

and ofcourse split the forums from horde and alliance.
tomorrow if you want ill go trough all 60-70 and 70-80 profiles and have a look there.
Yes check all profiles on updates, dates, in profile itself with tags and such.

 

We need to make a Working, nonworking, and Unverified sections for all profiles

edit: might be much to some but it will really show people what section really needs attention to create a large database of profiles.
