00D50F26 [5] and Access to the path "*.xml" is denied and type initilizer for ""...

Hello,

I've managed to get Honorbuddy working only a few times recently and it's always been after either a fresh install or after moving the directory from C:\Program Files (x86)\ to the Desktop or vice versa. Lately, both of these quick fixes have not been working. I'm running WoW.exe (32 bit) in DirectX 9 and I've tried DirectX11 both in Administrator mode, and I'm also running Honorbuddy.exe as an Administrator too. My Windows login is also an Admin.

Here are two things I've noticed.

1.
I get the following successive errors when I run Honorbuddy from the Desktop.
"Access to the path 'C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\Honorbuddy 2.5.6929.555\Settings\GlobalSettings.xml' is denied."
followed by
"The type initializer for 'Styx.Helpers.UISettings' threw an exception."

2.
Now when I take that same folder and put it into Program Files (x86) I get:
"Could not read bytes from 00D50F26 [5]!"

To reiterate I have tried:
1. I always run both WoW and HB as Admin.
2. I've tried switching from DX9 to DX11 and back to DX9.
3. I've reinstalled HB numerous times.
4. I've switched locations of folder which helped a couple times for whatever reason.

Anyone have any idea what is going on?

Yes I'm logged in as Administrator, and I've tried installing HB from scratch if that means deleting the folder and re-extracting it - tried many many many times.

This problem is very frustrating. I haven't been able to get it working for awhile now.

From both logs, it definitely appears to be a Windoze-permissions problem.

Let's try this:

• In Windoze, create another administrator account, but call it something else (e.g., "HBUser")
  The "Administrator" account that Windoze creates has some other funky things going on.
  
  
• Log in on this new account, and launch Honorbuddy using this technique:
  Right-click on Honorbuddy.exe
  -> Run as administrator

Tell us your results, please.

It worked once (the first load), but upon exit and trying to restart I get the same error 00D50F26.

Thank you for trying that and the fresh logs!

So, you've proven two things:

• Honorbuddy does work fine on your system
• It most definitely is a permissions problem

Could you have an anti-virus or some other tool that fiddles with the permissions in the background?
