Finding Item Numbers

I have been attempting to locate the item #'s for specific mounts so that my toon can use the same mounts when I use the bot as when I am in control of her. I have attempted to use the method to locate the item # described in Honorbuddy for Dummies and wowhead doesn't seem to work for me like it does for the author. Supposedly, you type in the name of your mount, hover over the use portion of the description and the item # will appear in a pop-up screen. If anyone knows of any other method to locate item #'s I would be most appreciative.

you simply type in the mount name not the ID#
