I've not had my account punished in any way, although I did receive a ban on an alt I got from a particularly shady dealer - (I think you can guess why).
I'm still pretty new to HB but with such a large community it seems clear that the bot itself is undetectable, or else why would we still be here?

That leaves the only remaining factor in being banned to the user. If you are doing things not humanly possible - farming round the clock, performing feats that require superhuman reaction times (particularly when under scrutiny; high level pvp/raiding) you are tempting fate.
In my opinion variety is key. If you do a bit of archaeology, then a bit of farming, a bit of pvp then a few quests you will have to be a lot more attentive to your account, but your activities will seem a lot more human and thus less suspicious. That being said, this is just my logical sounding shot in the dark so feel free to correct me.

Since there is no interval on the poll, it is hard to answer. I've lost a main account once before but it was due to some big mistakes on my part.

I bot on my main account now but only sparingly and never sell gold or bot for AH purposes.

Let us assume the polls is talking about weeks. Even if the chance is only 1% chance per week ... that means statistically you'll be more likely than not to be banned within 1 year of starting. Chances get higher the more risky behaviors you use (BG botting, questing while AFK, AH botting, etc).

Simple point: don't bot with your main account unless you're willing to walk away from it. I walked away from it for 2 years after my old main account was banned (pirox + archaeology + speedhacks). Then I got bored and had medical disability and needed something I could stare at mindlessly for hours. TV or bot WoW? I split the time between both. But if I'm ever banned again I'll just go play another game again.

Not many people with long playtimes can walk away so easily. If you can't deal with losing the account ... not only don't run a bot on it ... don't run a bot on the same PC. Period.

I am botting on my main account, don't care anymore. If i get banned, i will appeal it... if i fail to do so, that will be the way i quit the game.

If you're going to appeal a ban... You're not going to have a good time! Past few months i've lost a few accounts (including my main, boo hoo) and if you appeal all you get is a copy paste of "After further investigation we have come to the conclussion that this account will be banned, blah blah blah..

Don't bot on your because you feel confident that you can get unbanned..

I'm going to agree with the other guy. Bot until you get banned, and if they don't appeal, then peace. I've had 2 accounts banned, one I got greedy on as my herb buyers asked for more and more and I started running it longer than 5-6 hours. The other, I was very careful with and only ran it when I was there on my main account and only profiles I wrote. But it was SoR and poof. I think they look way too heavily at SoR/RAF and give extra chances on older accounts, but like this thread, my opinion is rather worthless.

Brand new to HonorBuddy myself, but I only plan to use bot to do MoP dailies and some mining (1hr/day for some gold). I quit WoW pre-cataclysm and just recently had a friend SoR me. The reason I quit in the first place is I was bored with the constant daily grind of doing dailies which is why I'm excited to use HB to do my dailies for me which allows me to continue to do the things in WoW I enjoy (Raiding, BGs, Levelling) Hope I don't get banned but oh well if I do.

Just as high as it would be with any account. It's how you use it and how often not what account you use it on.

Just as high as with any other account.

Don't expect Blizzard to show much leniency when they detect you, or suspect you.

Bot till your banned. If all your doing is Lazyraiding Raids then no worries. If your botting to farm and sell then by then time you get banned you should have enough gold in your own bank to buy another account.

Edit: Just to clarify. What Mario said is 100% truth, though alot depends on server population, other farmers etc.. All i was doing was stating, what should be, obvious shit.

i would say botting on ur main account is just as likely to get you baned but there is a higher chance to get it back sense it will show u play the account and u can just say o i was farming for my buddy in game or something i myself have botted sense glider been baned once in tbc got greedy with bg botting using a auto clicker the main account i have now has had 1 72 hour ban 3 perma bans i have had removed by just msging them and all of them was when i got greedy and pushed it just a lil to hard
      be safe dont get greedy

Its up to the user to get noticed. I am confident that the bot itself will never be detected. Just the manner in which you let the bot run can get you caught. Don't afk and you have next to no chance of ever being caught. As I said before.... the bot itself will never be detected. Blizzard would have to violate our privacy illegally to catch the program.

So when you say you have a second account...... you just pay for two accounts? BOT on the one and send the money to the other? in that way when and if there is a ban - the second account gets it? Is not the IP address the same? OR do they just look at the account itself? Also - I NEVER bot more than two hours for GB2 and then on different toons in different areas............. thinking about that second account depending on the answers. Of course it has to be on the same server for the money to go to the main toons yes?

You hit right on the spot, botting will get you banned. Hopefully you can do it in your main account for a long time :)

I have been botting my main account since 2005. Back when mmoglider was still called wowglider. I have only been banned once and that was back when blizzard changed something to detect glider that the devs missed. I have never been banned warned or anything using honorbuddy. I AFK quest bot alts to max level usually for about 22 hours a day for 5 days. I farm herbs and ore the same way. I use tyreal to raid and do dungeons. I do my daily mop quests with the bot. I dont sell gold and the few people in my guild know i bot so seeing me on all the time is not a issue.

They only ban the account (or WoW under your battle.net) what violates some rules. If your main acc is WoW1 and you bot on WoW2 and WoW2 gets banned, your main acc, WoW1 is fine. But they might have your whole battle.net on some sort of watch list but thats just theory.

honestly iam botting since 2010 with my one and only mainaccount. iam using combatroutines, levelprofiles, dungeonbuddy and petbuddy. and nothing happens. but ive to say that i also got my own securitystandards and dont use any gatherprofiles!!!

cause i think 80% of all public gatherprofiles can be scanned by blizzard.
