Reducing CPU+Memory usage when botting

How do you guys reduce it? My current WoW consumes 600-700mb of RAM, with 20% CPU :\
Anyway to reduce it further? I have only enabled the addons that I need, and put all settings to minimum.

 

I7, 16 gig ram, I do not reduce anything.

@OP I really dont know of a way to reduce it, I would suggest either adding more RAM or save up for a new Rig if your system is that out of date

 

Yep adding more RAM.
It comes down how much your Mobo can handle. Refer to your Mobo guide for more information, or you can search it on teh Interwebz.
Also depends what OS.
Ex. WIN XP 32bit can only detect up to 4GB RAM, WIN XP 64bit can only detect up to 8GB and so forth.
Correct me if i am wrong

 

Windows XP 64 bit can handle up to 128 GB.

 

I am not talking about that lol. I just want to know how to reduce the memory/CPU/GPU usage of WoW even further.

 

Set max foreground FPS and max background FPS to 13 and it should decrease the CPU.

 

Lower resolution to as small as possible
Lower all graphics settings (obviously)
go into Windows and change settings to basic (it will look like Windows 98 lol)
overclock your CPU
overclock your GPU
When botting hit CTR + ALT + DEL and close out of any processes that you don't need

that's all I can think of atm.


ah i forgot to mention. i havent tried this yet because the need has yet to arise, but try adding -nosound in your target path thing. just right click WoW icon and click properties.

back when i was botting on d2 i did this and got better fps. that was years ago tho

 

The resolution can be changed in wow/wtf/config.wtf. Put a value like 320*240 and it should help. Overclocking the GPU is not needed, unless you have a really shitty one.

In addition to what others have said (though running Windows in 8bit seems unnecessary), I would offer two tips:

(1) Disable your in-game WoW addons: this will certainly improve framerates. Undoubtedly the most CPU intensive addon is 'Recount', make sure it is disabled.

(2) Update your graphics card driver.

Finally, if you are raiding and you want to use HonorBuddy then switch to CombatBot -it is much lighter on your CPU than RaidBot, Tyrael and LazyRaider. I recently upgraded from a Q6600 (4 core, 2.4Ghz) to an i7K (8 core, 4.4Ghz) and can say from experience the CPU is definitely a bottleneck to some aspects of WoW. However disabling in-game addons (especially Recount) and graphics settings such as MultiSampling (set it to 1) will help you run WoW smoothly.

Telling him how much memory you have in your rig doesn't help him much, does it.

As far as the WoW client concerns, just minimise all the graphics and sound settings.

You set these attributes in your WoWclient Config.wtf file:

SET maxFPS "30"
SET maxFPSBk "30"​

It is recommended that you don't drop below 20. Otherwise, Honorbuddy starts behaving 'stupidly' because it not getting "enough time with the WoWclient". This manifests as:

• Slow target selection during combat
• Slow combat routine execution during combat
• Stopping and starting while pathing
• Stumbling around and falling off cliffs, because it didn't turn fast enough
• etc

20 should be the absolute minimum for most people, unless you are willing to put up with this stupidity. We prefer to see 30 as the minimum. 30 is the "knee in the curve" of ideal Honorbuddy performance vs minimum frame rate.

Not telling us anything about his system makes it difficult to do so.
OS, CPU, Graphic Card, Ram and how much money he can spend for an upgrade.

Anyway. If you level, gather or grind, there is no need that wow is the active window. F.e a small browser window as the active window won?t block too much and will reduce lag and/needed power (heat/energy cost) a lot.

Tip: When I bot I set WoW settings a low as they can go. This includes graphics and everything. No need to put ware and tear on your PC when your not there using it

 

The real question is why would you ever even spend a fraction of a second considering to use Windows XP 64-bit edition?

 

Ultra on everything, but I dont bot multiple accounts farming like a lot of you do. Got a monster-computer myself, but Im not gonna brag about it like 1st reply

 

Uh oh, the system is more than 2 years old. Not really possible to brag with it any more hm? Nope
If I?ve problems with my system and ask for help, the helper needs to know the system. If not the answers will always be guesses and many "Perhaps you..." Nothing more said my answer in an indirect way.

 

i run a shity ass comp and all i do to get rid of lagg and fram rate spikes is i hit ctrl alt delete and set wow to high priority and hb to above normal...i am using win xp 32 bit with 2gb ram and a 2ghz single core proccessor
