Hey so the new battle.net app that is being tested I managed to get an invite to test it. While testing it I found few things worth noting to the HB community: 1.That with the app installed you can not launch wow in 32 bit at all if you have a 64 bit machine even going into program files and launching the 32 bit from there results in the app launching it in 64 bit. The only way to launch it in 32 bit is to remove the app from your pc. Honorbuddy only works with 32 bit, simple solution don't install/use the new battle.net app right? Well what if the new battle.net app is going to become the new launcher? Basically what it does is you log into it instead of WoW or SC or D3 and from there you just click the game you want to play and it launches from there and you never logout basically like a game menu and you can see your realid/btag friends from there also. Once the app is installed on your machine no matter how you launch a game from a program file or desktop icon it automatically uses the battle.net app. Maybe this isn't intended and its not completely finished after all it is a beta and changes may be made to allow those options, but if they aren't made and it becomes the way to launch blizzard games. Obviously whenever this becomes mandatory for Blizzard they will have to amend HB to support x64 bit or find some kind of workaround in the launcher.
we won't as stated by apoc simple solution to problem: rename the 32bit.exe to the name the 64bit.exe has -> win
Honestly, I didn't even download the app because I went full paranoid and am afraid that it will somehow detect my botting
You forgot to add that new app also shows play time of your friends. So if you got someone on real Id and you don't want to know him that you are botting, you better delete him if you bot more then 15 hours. Since they can easily see your play time.
I noticed this as well. Works fine for me when I manually run C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Wow.exe instead of C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Wow-64.exe. But you are correct - there is no current way to run 32-bit WoW from either the battle.net client or from the curse client. Just make a shortcut to the 32-bit exe within the Wow folder.
wow isnt an very intensive hardware game and many casual players still have a 32bit OS so I dont think blizzard will alienate even more of their players by forcing them to have 64bit in order to use this app but they have been surprising me lately in a bad way (xmog helms) so we'll see.
good thing my real id friends know i can go on a wow bing where i spend 24-48 hours playing wow and thy was in my house as we both did it lol so thy dont know if i am boting or playing lol
I dont know about anyone else here but that is definitely not the easiest solution, I have 16gb of ram (32 supports up to 4gb) and have edited so many windows features personally and have so many programs that it would be ridiculous to even consider thinking of re installing windows even if I didn't have the 16gb of ram.
Virtual machine! Joke aside - Blizzard will never drop 32-bit support completely - and thus it will always be possible to find a way to open WoW in 32-bit. Also - good necro on an outdated thread!
yea sorry for posting on an outdated thread but I just happened to be looking to see what HB was doing and with and if it was compatible with the new battlenet launcher because I didnt wanna get detected or something if I was forced into using it eventually then I came upon this thread that suggested that everyone just change to 32 bit which kind of struck a cord. Also for some reason virtual machines never work correctly for me, I dont know why, and they mess with my network for some reason.
Hey no need to be sorry. I was in the same place as you recently. Either renaming a copy of the 32bit wow.exe to wow-64.exe or using the new HonorBuddy Launcher will allow you to run wow in 32bit despite the Battle.net Launcher.
