tried to logon on sunday just gone and couldn't as I was told I hadn't changed my password in 575 days been a member for 3 months, and that I had to change it before I could continue,so I clicked on the link and changed my password, needless to say it didnt work ,well I could logon to the forum but there was no Post New Thread buttons.
So is my account now hacked or was that a legitimate page that I used to change my details???So tired of all this crap.

      Hi johnperdu.

      1. vBulletin is the top board software on the market. There is no bigger or better one
      2. Yes, the page was legit. We asked all users to select a new password due to an internal security audit.
It was the first time we did this since years and it is to protect YOU as user.

I am sorry that this confused you and was not communicated upfront but from time to time it's needed to implement/change things without further notice.

      I hope you understand this.

      Kind regards
      BotOperator

While we're at this, is it normal that the forums don't save my PW anymore, and I have to log in every single time I visit the site?
It's happened on several computers that I tried with so I doubt it's something on my end.

Not a huge deal, just a minor annoyance.

Not to be an ass, but you didn't enforce the 'new' password.
It was possible to refill the same password for old as new (no cross check on this).
So infacto very well might be half the users (or more) still use the same one as before this act.

yes, the passwords can be the same, and now the cookie for the forums doesn't work. It's very annoying to have to re-enter your user name and password every time you visit the site now.

Yes this is correct it's on our end. The session timer is set to 900 seconds. If you are inactive longer than that you get a logoff.
This has something also to do with security and resource handling and measurement we do in the background at the moment.

Correct, we did not enforce you to select a different password than the last one.
It's up to you. For security reason - and thats nothing special for our site only - you should change your passwords from time to time and make sure you do not use the same on different platforms.

We will not share this information and we work hard to improve stability and security. We did a lot for this in the last couple of months but it's like
botting, there are always two sides fighting. The ones who wanna hack, and the admins who wanna prevent this ;)

I understand everyones concerns but even if it has 38 degrees here atm. we do not rest and work on the system ^^

Sure there technically isn't one bigger, but better is a little bit of a stretch. As a person who sets up the whole spectrum of community software I'd say IPBoard wins hands down in terms of functionality and customization. The free ones these days don't even look different than vBulletin and I can assure you the 4.0 trend is fading.

Delete your cookies, and relogin while choosing to save login. It'll work again.

So what I did not to make it more comfortable for you again. I made changes to the server and forum config and kicked everyone out of the board.
If you are still logged in please click the logoff button, clear your cookies and logon again. That should do the trick.
Clearing cookies might not be needed in all cases because I set a new one. The old one should be ignored after session timeout anyhow ;)

Hope this will make it possible again to stay connected and you are happy ^^
