It seems alot of people get banned for gather bots than they do for questing because of the marketing in game i guess. Really I rarely hear many say they got banned for using a bot to level and do quest. Does Blizz really care about Questing bots much? Or is there an high chance of getting banned for using a questing bot as i see theres no harm it does people in my opinion but just simply level for the person using it while they are doing other stuff.
Back when i first started botting i used a bot to level up strictly pvp. After doing so for about 3-4 days i got banned. In this current age i've used the bots to level up via quests and have ran each one for extensive hours (pushing the limits) and have yet to be banned. Done that for quite a while too. That being said, you are still likely to banned regardless of WHAT you bot just questing maybe one area they don't look so heavily at...
Good news: If you have 1 sole account and just use the bot to level and do dps rotation you are inside the safe zone (no gathering, AH bots, grind or exploit the game doing repetitive stuff for gold purposes) Bad news: you will still get banned eventually
There's not enough questing bots for there to be script bans other than the years old script ban for leveling too fast... with the rarity of profiles blizzard could simply use the quest order in order to detect botters in each zone but ofcourse would need manual investigation, with Gatherbuddy it's a lot easier because the player reports generated are enough to see and the logs also backup the reports.. people are aware of botters who do quests but they have outdated thinking as they still think that bots cant reply and that it's the ultimate test to see if someone is botting or not, it's more to do with player reports though as there may be scripts to protect high level ore in MoP basically stopping you going 24/7 and then posting on Auction House. They can do more against any type of bot like the US does have scripts for Grinding but not the EU... it's up to them how much they want to catch botters, they could easily hire a group of 10 volunteers (since a lot of people are out of work it's easy to find people willing to work for free) and then teach them how to detect a bot then ban them costing very little.
So pretty much its still safe unless someone comes up to me follows me and keeps trying to talk and i dont say nothing they report me?
well you'd need more than one report, usually you'd need to get stuck for a few hours in order to get the amount of player reports needed for a ban when questing.
LCP exists but isn't used, they could use it though... why would they waste a lot of server resources on botters when they can just make it so that other players do blizzard's job for them.
I just hate questing, do always the sames quests ( kill / loot / escort) by rollface on keyboard. Such a waist of time. And don't tell me " it's to learn how to play a class " ah ah. So i used HB to lvl up 12 char 90 atm. 10 with only questing and 2 with quest from 1 to 85 and 85 to 90 by bashing mobs. Never get banned. You just need to use the bot like a normal people will play : - install addon that make sound when you recieve a /w ( like chatsounds) - never bot more than 10 hour in a row (Week End ?), idealy less than 7h. - regulary check you bot. Are you stuck by talking to a npc ? stuck in environment, having parkinson ? - don't use relog pluging. If your character delog because of a script error or HB, he will do it again and again. With just this 4 rules, you are safe. Of course their is always a risk, it's very easy to spotted a bot if you follow him and if you don't /w him (like taunt them if they are in the enemy faction , only bot attack when taunted ) but atm, never had problem with questing bot.
If you have to ask this kind of question you shouldn't be botting at all. There is an inherent risk you take ever time you click start on HB. You take that risk knowing what that punishment might be. I myself have been botting since the glider days and have not been banned yet (Knock on wood). It could be just luck or not taking advantage of the fact that I am using a bot. Either way I know what the ramification could be in I do get caught.
I have been using HB for about 6 months now. Things I use HB for: Leveling CC for Raiding Things I don't do: Farm Auction House Gathering PvP Fishing or anything else. I find by only doing those simple things, your chances of banning will be greatly reduced. Now we all have our reasons for botting, but if you post on here. "I was botting 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, farming the same mining nodes, flying the same route, over and over. Why did I get banned?" Well you just answered your own question. End of story, is yes Blizzard cares. Just like they care if you buy gold. But if you are responsible and not making a unfair advantage on the economy or competitive PvP than you will most likely be looked at with one eye closed.
