What's up, fellow botters. For a long time I've wanted to use HonorBuddy to gather ONLY the required materials to level up crafting professions for my alts, and I still haven't found any. What I want is a profile (or multiple profiles) that will, for example, Go to Zone A, gather 60 of Item A and 30 of Item B and then move to Zone X, gather 25 of Item X and 100 of Item Y, so on and so forth. I'd be down to figuring everything out about making the profiles by myself, but frankly, I have neither the time, energy, patience or monetary interest (by asking for donations) for taking on the challenge by myself. I am a total noob when it comes to coding, and am limited to using only common sense by copy/pasting and editing certain values, so for me, it's quite a task. So what I propose is for this to be made by the community and for the community: Share ideas, tips, discuss how it can be made better, donate your knowledge and creativity, and let's make a badass Profession Leveling Kit farming profile!
THE DRAWING BOARD Profile Name - Profession Leveling Kit: Alchemy Bot Base - Undecided Faction - Both Requirements: So far I can only think of requirements being 1.- A max level character with 2.- Maxed out Herbalism (or whatever minimum level is for picking up fool's cap) 3.- Level 1 Fishing 4.- Access to Vash'jir and Deepholm 5.- Be able to fly in all zones. I'd like it if we make these profiles to not require any plug-ins, if at all possible. Desired Features: - Ability to choose a route. - Ability to choose the number of Kits to farm for (save a lot of time in travel by not having to run the profile more than once if you're after 2+ kits). - Ability to select which mats to gather or not (via Checkbox or something). Stage 1 - Zone Order and Raw Logic Planning This is work in progress and we will deal with raw ideas to be later translated into code. For now, I'm giving 3 Route options for Vanilla mats, they would all lead up to Outlands, then Northrend and so on. Horde - Hearthstone set to Shrine of the Two Moons (for easier travel). Route 1 *Incomplete* - Start in Durotar (Peacebloom and Silverleaf) > Darkshore (Briarthorn and Mageroyal) > Ashenvale (Bruiseweed) > Thousand Needles (Stranglekelp) Route 2 *Needs optimizing* - Tirisfal Glades > Hillsbrad Foothills > Western Plaguelands > Eastern Plaguelands > Arathi Highlands or the Hinterlands > Twilight Highlands > Swamp of Sorrows > [Hearthstone-Dalaran-Tanaris] > Feralas > Silithus > [Hearthstone-Orgrimmar-Deepholm-Orgrimmar-Vashj'ir] > Shimmering Expanse > [Hearthstone-Orgrimmar-Mount Hyjal] > Felwood > Winterspring > [Hearthstone-Shattrath] Terokkar Forest > Nagrand > Shadowmoon Valley > [Hearthstone-Dalaran] > Scholazar Basin > The Storm Peaks > Zul'Drak > Howling Fjord > [Hearthstone] > Jade Forest > Kun-Lai Summint > Dread Wastes or Townlong Steppes. Alliance Route 1 - Route 2 - Route 3 - NOTE: I do not play alliance, so I will need someone experienced to help with this one! - QUESTIONS: - Are we able to make this profile for the ProfessionBuddy bot base? The ability to change or select a route through its settings could come in handy. - The ability to have different routes to take is something that can be done? I mean 3 different routes and the ability to select which one you want to run this time. - Route 1 takes part mostly in Kalimdor and Route 2 mostly Eastern Kingdoms, any suggestions on order / better zones?
There is something that does this, but sadly, it is not free. I can't remember which of the community members (or ex-members) made this. In fact, I know it doesn't help you, but I can't remember if it was a stand alone (bot base, plugin, etc). I just remember looking at it on someone's website.
I propose we start with the Alchemy profession, the mats required can be gathered by an Herbalist except for the 5 Pygmy Suckerfish, which can be fished from pools in various Zones in Northrend (should we make it fish up the fish too? I don't see why not). And then move on to a more complex Profession like Engineering, which uses ore, bars, stones and cloth. Yeah, it would be helpful, I'm sure. It would be useless for me. I've got ten 90s and I have every profession at 600 right now. Archaeology too, on four toons, lol!
lol I feel ya...I'm at 9 level 90s with 8/9 of them with all profs at 600 on my main account, more on bot accounts...the profile would've saved me a crapton of time and headaches lol...I mainly want to make this one because: 1.- I currently have a character that i want to switch a profession with. 2.- I still haven't leveled a rogue on my main account 3.- I will be making more bot accounts in the near future, I plan to properly equip them
I know what you mean. Some of the professions I don't even use. I just leveled them to say that I leveled them. But, as for engineering, I leveled it for the glove and cloak tinkers. And, with my rogue, my DPS is so low right now that I'm embarrassed to put her into a group with anyone. My weapons are ilvl 415, so my DPS is going to be low. My main two focuses have been on my warlock and resto shaman. They're both pushing 500+ ilvl. My warlock is already 510. I just don't play my rogue beceause I'm embarrassed at the DPS I do in dungeons with people that are now farming heroics just for the JP and VP. Sometimes even the healers do more DPS than my rogue does, lol! It's just hard to do anything when you're in a group of people that have 530+ ilvl gear and are simply farming for the JP/VP and DEs.
OK, I'm back and going through ideas, updating the drawing board with the basic stuff that comes to mind. Remember what is in there is only what I've come up with so far, it will be constantly updated by our input, it's not set in stone and is open to suggestions and more ideas! If you guys can help me with how this translates into actual code that would be GREAT, since that is what I'm sure I'll struggle with the most.
Hmm...I'm not convinced it's worth it to have 3 Routes...It could work for Horde to have 2: 1 Starting from either Orgrimmar or Thunder Bluff, and 1 starting from Undercity.
Okay I just tried to post a long reply to this tread but it appears it did not make it so here it is again: I use to have something similar to what you are looking for, I will see if I can find it and share that with you if I do. It did not take a profession and go gather the mats for it, but I could tell it what mats to go get and how much of them I needed and it would go gather those and mail them to me. The problem I had with mine is that if I told it to go gather 12xherbx and 24xherby and they were in the same zone. After it gathered 12xHerbx it would not stop gathering Herbx so you might end up with 24xHerbX and 24xHerbY depending on if it gather each herb at the same rate. However, I believe I recently saw a fix in a recent update to either ProfessionBuddy or GatherBuddy or both that would allow you to select/deselect what nodes to gather from. I will look for my old code try to update it with that fix and then put a link in this forum for you to download and possible update or give me ideas on how to change it. Mine is based off of these profiles here and here so you had to tell it what to get. I like the idea of updating it to hey I need all the mats to level profession(X) get them and mail them to me. I will see if I can create a branch that I will start working on what I think you might be looking for at least enough to maybe tweak it to more like what you are thinking of. Hopefully I find my code so I don't have to start from starch, but as well as everyone else around here real life is a bit hectic and doesn't leave much free time to work on side projects but I will try and do what I can to help you get to your desired profile, because I think it would be a good thing for the community to have and new botters as well.

I started making somthing like this before but got busy and never finished. I go on break for a month in a couple weeks maybe I can see what I can do then. But it would most likely be set up so you input values of how many of each thing you want and most likely will end up getting more than you need of some (I can't imagine that s a problem). Good idea, in my opinion you should use ProfessionBuddy in order to select which herb/ore you want to gather, the amount and also move your character in the right zone, make files with hotspot for each herb/ore, and a plugin which will merge those different files which are needed by creating a Gatherbuddy profile. I'm not sure it's possible to make a plugin which will do that. Ofc this is a huge work and I'm not sure you've the competence for this, but you could always learn !
I already sell profession kits, the tools to do this are already on this forum and another, no need to re-invent the wheel, 10 seconds in Google should provide you with all the answers. Won't be anymore specific than that because I could do without the competition on my realm. G
I wasn't able to find my full code, I found a hacked together version but sadly it doesn't work with the current PB, I will try to make time this week to update the parts that are broken. hgoutyt - you have to do custom code tag in PB that will change the settings of gatherbuddy. I will look for the exact code. I had it once before from another profile, but I am not sure which as I have tons of profiles and going through each one to find one snippet is a bit of a chore. I will try to code up the first part of each profession over this week, but I might only get one or two of them as I don't have a gathering alt to test it with at this time. So I will be using the leveling profiles that already exist. I will post it to a public svn when I have something that I believe is the beginning of what you/we are looking for and/or want. There are a lot of people that sell Profession Kits, and I bet you are not the only one on your server that sells them. You can find them all over the place both for in game gold and out of game money. Yes I have searched google, as well as other forums. My results have found things similar to this but not exactly as what I think is trying to be done. If you have something that is free, and will go gather a full kit for a profession please share, or help by giving samples of code for the pieces we are asking about. No of us have asked for if someone was able to find it. We all asked for help in creating it, because we were not able to find anything. Posting comments that say search for it, is not helpful in any way. I have searched as stated above, fiends I have on other forums have searched and they also found thing similar but nothing that you tell it what profession and it goes and gathers all the items for that profession. Again if this seems rude that is not my intent, merely suggesting instead of posting that you found it but I am not telling you where, which is pointless and unneeded, you merely use the time it took you to post to show an example. If your intent was to help, it wasn't helpful in anyway in my opinion. When someone asks for help and you can't really help then why say anything. The only reason I can see for you post is try and prove your better than someone. So your google and forum knowledge is better, then enlighten us, hell post a let me google that for you link for all I care. In closing if someone asks for help and you can help them, regardless of little time it took you to find the answer, help them. If it took you ten seconds to find it. How much longer would it have taken you to post a single link to what you found? another 3 to 3 seconds thanks to the wonders of copy and paste. I do appreciate any help you are able to provide, but posting and providing no assistance when help is what was asked for is a waste of your time and ours.
I was going to wait until you had done all the work and point out how it could be done with everything available already, but decided to give you a headsup because of the so few posts you have on this forum, so you didn't re-invent the wheel and waste your time. Again Google supplied all the answers to me when I was looking to start selling kits, my search skills are nothing spectacular. No-one else sells kits on my server, the market is mine, why do I want someone else cutting into my profit by giving you all the answers, gold is hard enough to make these days without sharing with others how you do it. the point of this is to create one that is free. there's no point in disrespecting someone the way you did theatris. he's got a good idea. sure it's not original, but that doesn't mean it's any less good. anyways, if i could code, i'd definitely help you out man, but i'm basically in the same boat as you are. sorry. wish you luck on this if you're still trying to make it.
