Is it possible/viable to solo grind dungeons to 85?

It depends on your character and how geared he is, everyone here has been using mainly DK Blood with 480-500 item level to farm the stone core drake on regular mode. So if you're lets say 550 I'm sure you're more than capable of soloing heroics.

      Its possible.
I'm doing that right now on a warrior. (Not everyone plays blood DK).

Basically, Get full heirloom gear (makes it MUCH easier)...and run dungeons that are about 7 levels LOWER than your current level.
If the trash mobs are GREEN...then you're getting XP. Once the trash turns GREY...then move to the next higher level instance.

Its a long, slow process and may not work as well on squishy characters (mages, priests, etc...).

If you don't want to use Botanist's Solstice (which mails/buys food/changes hearthstone locations)...then just search for Instance grind profiles on the forums.
You can try to use Dungeonbuddy (farm mode)...but i find DBuddy to be unreliable at best.

Its faster than grinding...no worries about player reports (unless you die and rezz at the spirit healer)...and you MAY constantly die on some bosses. You're still not high enough level to Nuke through some mechanics and healing may be an issue too.

It can work...but not as easy as you may have thought.
      Good luck.

While above the guy said not everybody plays blood DK, I suggest it. Their whole entire class revolves around self healing and survivability, which gives the bot a lot of leeway to mess up in fights. Plus, deathknights start at level 55. I'm not too sure why anyone would play anything other than a blood DK. Even for farming, druids may be a bit better in that they don't have to dismount, but if you're on a PvP server then my DK with 800k HP isn't going to get attacked, while a druid with 500k just might. Not to mention that Blood DKs can solo just about any instance that isn't impossible to solo in this expansion.

Blood DKs are overall the best botting class.

The OP's question was a bit vague...
He didn't say what he was using the toon for.... farming? ...just to get to raiding?...who knows? He only said grinding to 85....
Is a blood DK the best for solo grinding?...sure. Does everyone want to play one?...no.

I'm having no problems on my warrior. I imagine Pallys would be easy too (any plate class). Mages/priests/squishies WILL be harder to solo dungeons.

***GET HEIRLOOMS - they give faster XP and scale with you as you level. No need to change gear. Even a DK will have a hard time if you're only using AutoEquip plugin and using gear thats 7-8 levels below you***

Dungeonbuddy is a bit 'unreliable' atm. You can try Botanist's Solstice profile for a DK.
Or you can use the profiles in the following link:

      http://www.thebuddyforum.com/honorb...ng/140913-instance-grinds-transmog-farms.html

      Use Quest bot.

Read Botanist's Solstice profile. The first post has a list of dungeons (by toon level) it goes to. Although geared for DKs (58-90)...Im sure you can figure out which instances to do at lower levels. My warrior was already in the 50s before I started, so I can't tell you which ones to do exactly.

      Still faster than grinding :)
      Good luck
