I was just banned for abuse of economy and it was a permanent ban. I thought you were warned first at least? How long back do they keep track of things like this as I haven't done anything on my bot that has gained me any particular large sums of either gold or items for at least 6 months. Does anyone know more details when it comes to this particular ban reason? I have never sold gold but I did buy gold ages ago and I haven't done more than a few hours of botting in the last few months and that botting was just some raid stuff (tyrael cus I'm lazy). Edit: They also just banned one account and not the others on the same battle.net account. Neither did they ban another bnet account under the same name and credit card. I thought they banned everything? I have appealed this ban but not sure what that will help. Should I get a new bnet account and start over with another name and credit card or will these other WoW accounts I have be safe?
I also have been banned for abuse of the economy 5 days ago on both my main account(which i do not bot on) and my botting account. Lucky you that you didn't get banned on your main. I'm still in the process of retrieving back my account. I would say just start with another name and credit card just to be safe.
I've been hit with abuse of economy so many times it is not even funny. Before I ever started botting. Every single time I have written an email to explain it and gotten my account unbanned. A few times I sent an email asking what I did... Usually it was mailing large sums of gold, or giving gold away. I gave a friend 35,000 one time to help him get some mount and ban less than 5 minutes later disconnected banned from the game for about 3 hrs.
In the spirit of being honest, I'll add that I've sold ~600k over the last few months, all face to face. Sometimes I've traded in lump sums as much as 125k (at once). This is all with pretty much the same person, a lvl 1 toon while I use one of my 90s. Just adding my $0.02 to the convo.
I'm curious about the warning? I was also under the impression that you received some sort of slap on the wrist before a perma-ban... maybe I am the victim of an urban myth?
The only slap on the wrist you'll get is a 72 hour suspension, and even that is fairly rare. I've lost around 15 accounts over the past year, and all of them were instant permabans, no exceptions.
If you get Abuse of Economy ban, the only way to overtune it, is to prove your account was not in your possession, aka hacked, or if you have triggered false positive, which is rather rare .... and happen usually when you trigger automatic ban.
Abuse of economy never gives you a warning. it is always an imediate perma ban. botting can give a warning first. but also permas as first action are common. it isn't public, who gets a perma, and who a temp suspension. guess, blizz has intern rules. something like: bot 4 hours a day temp ban bot 12 hours per day and more perma. abuse of economy is always perma without warning.
