Okay, so I've been botting 3-4 days a week for 8 hours maximum. I try to be as safe as possible and always vary my activities, but how safe is safe? It only occurred to me recently that I'm doing an incredibly stupid thing by botting on my main account. I recently started multiboxing RAF questing/bg farming, but I still try to keep it to a sensible time. How long does it usually take for them to issue bans and is it likely to be a 72 hour or a perma ban?
It is never safe, period. You can be banned months after using the bot. Blizzard usually follows a trend of 72 hour ban > permanent ban - they don't want to lose customers, but they don't want cheaters in their game either.
You should NEVER bot on your main account. This is a MUST rule. You might think like "If i bot like 1-2 hours even with 50% supervision i will be fine". But you are not, sometimes you might just be the unlucky guy on that unlucky moment when you will receive a report from a player. The thing is some people claim - and on some cases i believe it's true - that they have been botting for many years without getting banned. Botting carefully with supervision and also applying strict rules on how you bot ( alternate accs anc cahrs , changign routes and profiles etc ) can make you survive longer. One thing is for sure though. You need luck to survive as well. Most of the people who survive while botting for years, either they have lots of luck on their side or they know how to ''stay low''.
This essentially covers my history of botting. I have never been very strict on my botting patterns, yet i have managed to dodge bans for around 3-4 years (how much are you betting that when i come home tonight i will have the message? ) on my main account.
