Got the bot to work healing a FP, seems great so far once you get it working error free. Are these memory errors ever going to be fixed, or is it cause of the shitty hero engine of the game? Also, to prevent these errors, every time I get a loading screen... Do I need to do a full exit and restart of the bot prior, or can I just stop/start and keep it open? Keep up the great work.
Don't think the issues are really to do with the CR Code. HeroEngine is just crappy, and BuddyWing has some issues of it's own. You don't need to exist and restart the bot. Just start / stop.
Start/stop helps sometimes. Not starting the routine until you enter the FP helps sometimes. However, nothing is guaranteed. The Hero Engine does suck, and it moves memory around all the time. The errors you get are because the game moved some memory around and the bot can't find it. You'll just have to be ready to kill your game.exe sometimes, log in 15 minutes later, and re-que.
And Buddywing needs to gracefully handle this. Along with CR needing to gracefully handle null references from Buddywing.
Hopefully BW. Not sure why this bot gets neglected compared to others. Surely FF:AR and WoT aren't more popular than SWTOR?
This bot had a bad start and they shut it down. We begged them to bring it back, even with no support, and they agreed. Now, however, I think the bot and SWTOR are healthy enough that they could do a little development, but I think they've moved on to other things
Not necessarily. People returning for 3.0 should mean an increase in sales for BW. We can try to advocate for an increase in development if they are making money. Unfortunately, they'll probably just fall back on "we revived this bot as-is, you knew this when you purchased." But we can try. At the very least, increased interest will mean increased profiles.
Probably not supposed to talk about other bots, but is there anything else to choose from that does what BW does? Just wondering if botters will flock here or if they got other choices.
Update: -Rewrote SpecHandler, so all the specs work now. If the fixes get written into buddywing, we can do away with SpecHandler Oh yeah, if I broke shit, flame away.
I spoke to Aevitas last week (or is it 2 weeks already?!?), and he said they are currently very busy with current bots and new bots. Understandable, but he was willing to look into the current problems i mentioned. BUT this was pre 3.0 announcement. Maybe if we can get Bossland himself or Hawker to answer this question... Also what aevitas mentioned was, the biggest problem what they have now was, when they where creating the bot, everything was noted down in the CORE SWTOR. They could see names, EVERYTHING. Then they got wind and changed the names to numbers, which is hell to find stuff in. So if new functions come out, it is shit load of work to look for offsets / numbers to find specific functions. Which then relates to, why they wanted to drop the bot/game support. But still, this means at 3.0 the following two options: - Bossland and Co do a shitload of searching, adding and revamping - or the bot ceases to exist, duo no update.
I really hope that second option won't happen. In worste case I think we can all pay more for that searching, adding, revamping to be done I don't really wanna see this bot to go to waste. Its still the best software out there for this game.
Just had contact with Aevitas, they will change the disciplines according to the drop on 2 dec. Other stuff may or may not be changed in the given timeframe they have, stuff i contacted him about.
Would love to see at least some kind of development for this, but understand if the SWTOR/Hero engine just makes it that much more difficult compared to other games. Lazyraider/Enyo with a great paid CC really spoiled me using HB and WoW (especially with healing classes). I don't really think I'd want to play an MMO without it, as lazy as that sounds. Maybe I will jump back into FF, RebornBuddy looks pretty good.
Despite the bot's problems: An Okay bot is better than no bot. That being said, I never use the bot without using PureSWTOR, and I hope it continues to see some love even when 3.0 is released!
It sounds like Ama's back, and I'll keep working on PureSWTOR rotations as long as there is a Buddywing. At the very least it should be functional for 3.0
Update: added a rebuild function. Every 30s, out of combat, behaviors are rebuilt for Pure. This allows you to move from zone to zone without having to reload.
