Is there a plugin/addon that can notify us which greens are "relatively" valuable or rare; can be used for transmog etc so we don't vendor them? Or should I keep vendoring all greens?
don't really think that that exist, because it isn't something most botters bother about. because it's really hard to know what is a good value.
Brain, I keep everything and sell it. I also use an addon that uses info from a site that shows prices people are getting. I find that greens in the level 1-20 range sell as xmog items getting anywhere from 15 to 500g. It costs little to place it on auction so I list them over and over, most sell eventually. Other greens dont sell well for the cost to put them on the AH and even most rares and epics dont sell well. So I end up vendoring pretty much all greens unless the Disenchant provides more money. MOP I vendor because the price of disenchant is usually lower than the vendor price with dust going for a gold or less per unit. And teh reason I do this is because I'm greedy.
Would you mind sharing the name of the addon, Bubba? I'm curious as to what it's called. I may be using it already and not even know it, lol.
I use TSM, when moused over it will show the realm value of the item. Hope posting the name of addons isn't against the rules. It takes awhile to setup but super effective.
I dont know the addon off hand, I use a bunch of addons I think it uses Encantrix, Datastore. Then you have a few addons swatter, stubby and the one that gives prices GoingPrice_Wowhead. I also use the AH to determine disenchant going prices verses the vendor price. Keep one thing in mind though what something is worth is how much someone will pay for it. One thing about Cat greens on my server the disenchant Hypno Dust goes for a lot. Good luck and good botting.
TSM is the best for this if you want thorough. Goingprice I haven't used, and for a while whilst the Undermine journal was down I assume was out of date, but not it's working again, I assume this would be the best if you want something lightweight. I wouldn't recommend Auctionner of Auctionator for this purpose, as they are reliant on you regularly scanning your local AH for sale price data, and will never be as accurate. You are however right, that the average botter throws away or vendors 30-50% of the value if item drops they get by ignoring the resale value of greens. Also worth noting is although these addons will tell you average prices, they will not tell you the level of demand, this comes from either experience, or you can find some demand data on wowuction.com but they do not currently distribute this info in any kind of feed.
enchantrix used to be bundled with auctioneer, and all that other crap that goes with it. im not sure if you can load enchantrix without auctioneer or not. tsm has a desktop app that searches the auction house auto so you never have to do it ingame to build a server specific database. i personally dont use it, i just use the auctionDB module for tsm and scan 4-5 times a day.
Can I ask why not? I find it a god-send. It's pretty lightweight, just runs in the background for me, and can update multiple servers every few minutes without you ever needing to scan again. Plus it opens up much more advanced functionality around deal notifications if you are so inclined.
What is TSM? I do my stuff hands on determining if the AH juice is worth the cash I am gonna get from any possible sales. Most times its not worth it. One note all the AH scans either by hand or other doesn't show what actually sold. So if you list a green for 50g and hope it sells when the vendor price is 12g and the AH juice is 5g. Basically if its not a sure thing or has a sizable markup then vendor here I come. Less hassle and in the end more guaranteed cash. Just get a feel for what is listed and what is selling ATM as the market is fluid and dynamic.
