At first I thought it was an ingenuous form of journalism, but the site is leaking sensitive information that would be of a direct benefit to terrorist organizations and I don't think that is right at all, but on the other hand that's all that I think Julian Assange has done wrong, after all he is a journalist reporting information that was given to him from "genuine sources", US cable's given freely to him by a United States citizen who is guilty of a crime and will surely face the penalty for that crime. I think he's keeping the biggest leaks up his sleeve, he allegedly has some dirt on the banks about corruption, it will be interesting how the rest of media will react to this. Ill leave you with this quote to think about. "The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the State."-- Dr. Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Propaganda Minister
So quoting Goebbels is a good thing in your opinion? Lol. If a NAZI says it's good for the country, don't do it. Assange has done nothing wrong. The person who gave him the information is a different matter.
Wikileaks is without a doubt good. It's up to stuff like wikileaks to change at LEAST the united states. I'm pretty ashamed to be an American lately. I'm not some terrorist or anything, I just wish I had something nice to say about my own country for once.
All of USA is a great big lie, no website, form of news, government statement, leaks, document or ANYTHING should be trusted. Those who are rich have complete control, they keep their secrets, 100% of the time, and let out lies for their own gain, whatever it may be, for in whatever way. As for the idea, I think it would be pointless to know everything that happens, because I know much of it is sickening beyond humane standards, to the point where I probably wouldn't want to live. Ignorance is bliss. If you disagree, Have fun learning how much of a dog eat dog world this is, in real detail. What ever happens, I'll give him 2 thumbs up for sticking his head out, I wouldn't do the same, because sometimes the truth is too painful to deal with. I wouldn't want my kids to know that kids half way across the world were being burned alive. That's a burden I couldn't bear, how could children? As for an argument like, "if we know, we can change it!" Grow up, shit don't change because people bitch, they just give it new words like, "for god, to protect", or whatever patriotic bullshit people fall for these days. I don't want to believe that, but this is a sick world we live in, I plan to pay every month to feed a child I know nothing about, it's what I'm willing to do to help. As for quoting anyone, that's fucking stupid, decide things on your own, don't let fancy phrases dictate decisions. And to be honest, anything could be true, and anything could be a lie. It's not a conspiracy, it's real life. PS: Paypal closed his account to keep the website up. The truth is, we simple botters can't change the world and how it works. Die trying if you like, I plan to stay alive, and raise my kids right, in hope that someday, smart > not = to stupid
its funny how the big companys freeze wikileaks Bank Accounts (Paypal, Mastercard and so on) Also the wikileak servers become DDos heavy. I think some mighty people dont want some of the infomation in the public, kind of information about themself about all the lies and shit they made to become mighty/rich
It's good to know the truth, but not at the expense of our national security. Also I find it very sad that people that say there not proud to be an American. It's like telling someone who has made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our country f-you. Remember all governments keep secrets so that its people can continued to live there sheltered lives, and not worry that a terrorist was tortured for sensitive information that lead to a bomb not going off in your city. This is just my opinion on this subject.
Good. I believe that whistleblower are the modern heroes, as they show the world that sth is wrong. I just think it's f**cked up to close the paypal account / mastercard / visa, because otherwise i would have donated some hard earned money. We don't know what happened in Sweden, and nobody except the 2 women know it. Anyhow I think the odds are not bad that someone tried to lay the blame on him, because he stepped outta the line. Also everybody acts like he's the only person behind wikileaks. He's just the only one that outed himself. Laters rho
People must know! Terrorists and other 'fears' are created by the current governments of the world, in order to create a so called 'New World Order'. In this New World Order, the whole world will be under one government, a dictatorship. You think that's a good idea? The greatest power should be divided throughout many people, else we will all be slaves of this one government. People should know about government activities.
Were you there at the time? If not, how can you state this? If someone claim he has done this or that, it must be true, right?
Washington gritted teeth, because the whole world got a chance to see "dirty laundry" of U.S. diplomats: their contempt for the host country, a passion for collecting unsightly facts of life of local leaders, the lack of disgust to the rumors and dubious sources. But in other countries, even those where the U.S. failure is usually happy, materials WikiLeaks caused a storm of indignation. People were convinced, as many, so guess: countries and nations are driven by people who are far from their on-screen images. WikiLeaks is already preparing a series of revelations from the life of the largest U.S. bank. And this idea, incidentally, may be even more dangerous than the publication of state secrets. Hundreds of billions of dollars - this is not a toy. People were dying from heart attacks or under the wheels of trucks for much less money. So perhaps, in prison Assange will be calmer than in the wild. P.S. Sorry for my bad English
In my opinion he did everything right ! @Yoginator; i think its also really funny how big the influence of the us for this companys is....
I sorta wish that he would be captured or smth, nothing too serious tho. Cus he said if he gets captured/killed or anything he will release some VERY nasty shit.
Both. Leaking information that serves no purpose and can get people killed (such as their recent leak of manufacturing plants and other key facilities around the world) is extremely wrong.
