Just look around. There are hundreds of threads with profiles for gold making and thousands of threads like yours. Everything makes gold. How you can even have gold problems right now is a mystery to me.

Economy = Items / Crafting mats / even old crafting mats like leather cloth etc... Don't start with flipping eg buy / resell
That means sit back and analyse what is being bought and sold and check the prices (best way using scanners). Don't just buy stuff.

Besides TSM and the other scanner addons you can try wowuction, it has a db of every mat and craft with sold and posts per day + 14 day statistics

Go on wowuction, select realm and then go to profession and look at sold per day or demand. Try some stuff out.
