Is there a forum that discusses a comparison of these two bots and other BuddyStore products? If not, does anyone have experience with both?
Discussing two different paid products on the forum is classed as advertising. This is against the forum rules lotrodude. If I'm not mistaken soon there will be a rating system on the store to help you but there is also trial versions to test
I don't know how a buyer asking a question becomes "advertizing" since I have nothing to gain from either bot? However, if that is how this is viewed I ask that it please be removed.
AFAIK, that was the old rules when there was no buddystore and paid products were not supported, now they are officially supported if sold at the buddystore, so not sure those still stand.
I'm using butler and so far it works smooth, only downside (but i think but have that at this point) is you can't specify how long % of completion rates for missions is acceptable, so it doesn't do as many missions as it could.
i dont see barn support for garrison boss, so for now butler imo. maybe good idea have both if you r got alot toons.
I can't speak for GarrisonBoss, but GarrisonButler is amazing. Does pretty much everything I need, has extra features added often, hbrelog support, and is currently running a 40% sale. I've used it since it was in free beta and I can say it's definitely one of the few items on the store that's well worth the money. I don't think this is the case anymore with the release of the buddy store, and it shouldnt be. Customers should be able to ask the community about items that cost money. Having a rating system Soon™ doesn't help right now. Even if they have free trials it doesn't tell you everything, and if you used the free trial back when it was released you most likely can't use it again, even though a lot has probably chanced since you used the trial.
I own all 3. it's mixed. Akatosh has a pretty good scale of working smoothly. Navigation is the smoothest of all 3 in the mines, and it has support for % rating for follower missions which is unique. However, not being updated for over a month puts it at a 3/5 rating. it does have a profile for gathering timber, but it's broken and again, hasn't been updated since they changed gathering to stacks of 250 timber or gathering traps. Pending an update, or improvements, it could go up to a 4/5 as it's still missing traps and quests, dailies, as well as mailing and bank storage. GarisonBoss 's uniqueness is that it can craft items (doesn't check if you have the skill, and sometimes not even the mats) so it can get stuck sometimes in loops and/or crash HB. Boss can also do the preliminary quests for low level characters, like fishing and herbalism, alchemy and ... eventually others. it'll take a while for the quests to be padded out to all of the buildings, but it can also run the fishing dailies, which is unique. movement is smooth when it does move around, although it does loop inconsistently between areas trying to process all the different buildings, not necessarily in order. it will wander aimlessly around going from area to area while "thinking" of what to do next, constantly backtracking from collecting orders to mines to crafting to placing orders, so it takes longer to do a circuit, around 15 minutes per alt if you don't have clean settings. as a rating, Boss is probably a 4/5, it's still under regular development but it is also missing follower missions. Boss has a broad and simple range of mailing/storage options, it sometimes gets broken by updates, but it's fairly well updated. Navigation and process order is it's weak link, but it works well. once it matures and has more thorough internal testing, it can really only get better over time. if it had follower missions, it'd probably get a 4.5/5, as it still has some teething issues. GarrisonButler (formerly GarrisonBuddy) is also promising. ICE is an interesting support/price bundle, offering voted in features as does Boss. Compared to Akatosh, it's not as well spec'd, but it does the job generally better, as it handles most of the common tasks in the garrison, and professions as well as 100% completed missions. Arguably, Butler is the less developed of the 3 bots, but it functions well, and this makes a lot of difference in the long run. it's not as jarringly inept at navigation as Boss, but it does frequently pause between tasks. Mine navigation works well enough. Butler, even though it doesn't run quests or dailies, or run the timber / trap profiles, it supports mailing, and does the daily Profession CD's. i'd give it a 4/5 as well, but for different reasons to Boss. What it does it does well. But it has a long list of future expansion options as well. There's also a 4th option, the Brodieman Premium Collection - Garrison profile, which i haven't run much, but it is also being updated. If i had to buy one garrison bot, it's GarrisonButler ICE, because it's on special. it works well, and does everything really essential i.e. daily CDs, follower missions, work orders and gathering. Garrison Boss, has the most potential to improve in the future, but it's jarringly broken at times when you enable some features. both Boss/Butler can get stuck on loops trying to sell unsellable grey items (blingtron items, sic)
I agree with Toliman, with the reservation that you stay far far away from Akatosh Garrison until it's fixed with support. It personally has never worked for me, couldn't even finish 1 pass through mines without getting stuck, the navigation was a nightmare. If you take a look at the support thread, it's also full of people asking for money back since the developer basically abandoned the project.
Hey just tried the demo for both and here is what I think. Please note that I am using two fresh 100's and I could be totally wrong in my assumptions. It seems as if Butler has the basic details down to a T. You are going to be able to get download and get things done quick. Perfect for those who are just starting out. However Garrison boss, although not as simple/elegant as Butler, has every single detail available. Meaning you have WAY more options and can really be specific in what you want your BOT to do. Basically, if you just want to click and AFK, I wou'd recommend using butlerICE at first then switching to Garrison boss once you are humming (have lots of recources/have work orders pumping out). HOWEVER, if you understand code and all this mumbo jumbo they show in log files then I would recommend only buying Garrison Boss, seeing as you will probably be able to get it to work just fine. Either way I would use the demo to make sure. As I said this is only a personal evalution and may have no real bearing on fact. Regards, SmittyCoCo
I'll also change my rating when the new Garrison bot comes out, because I'd like to see how it's going to perform. Also, the greater than 6 week wait for Butler to implement missions is anticipated to be quite good, but it is troubling to see the long delay on a voted on feature taking as long as it has, especially after the debacle of akatosh Garrison, and it's removal from the store(?) for those who invested in Butler or ICE, it's a nice, functional bot, but in comparison, it's not on par with GarrisonBoss. At the moment, a month later, alisha's GarrisonBoss is the preferred bot. The addition of the barn allows for gathering of cloth/leather mats at a certain stack size, which is great for spreading out the time sink across different alts, and the support of fishing and 90% of the Garrison, including professions like cooking, makes it worthwhile. What Boss can do differently to Butler/ICE , is help with collection of resources, which is ideally what you want when you have 5+ alts to check multiple times a day. The next challenge will be to see how/who supports timber and the 6.1 changes like the primal traders/daily traders, but it is a long term goal / problem.
I bought the premium versions of Garrison Boss and Garrison Butler. I use Garrison Boss. Perhaps if Garrison Butler ever gets updated I may switch. But, for now, Garrison Boss is BOSS!
I just bought garrisonboss, imo its worth every cent and the developer seems to be very active. this is just my opinion tho as op asked for, I haven't tried the others as I was happy enough with it to buy it after 2 days of the trial period.
I got both. I find that GarrisonButler is more stable but its often started with no setting (i.e the bots wont do anything) If the developer force set everything to on then it would be good, but it needs to be configured for each char used on. Garrisonboss is abit too messy atm for me, its alot of backtracking, alot of bugs and it gets stuck alot. I do like the idea tho and i hope the developer fix it so it runs as flawless as garrisonbutler ice does.
