Hello everyone, I am reading lots of stuff about getting banned and I wanted to share my thoughts with you guys. If you are to lazy to read this right now and maybe got here by google: Please skip to the bottom. I think Blizzard can find people who use bots with ease. They do not even have to scan any games or analyze play times. I think it might be possible for them to just download the bot themselve, analyze its process and integrate a routine in theire games to look for that specific process. There are many other ways to do similar things. So whats the point of this Thread? To tell you its really easy for Blizzard to ban you? Well yes, kind of. But here is the Soloution: Spent some real money! The only thing Blizzard wants is money. The only reason why they ban botters is because players who do not use bots want them to because otherwise they would hate blizzard for letting people use bots and would not play the game (and pay money) themselves. But Blizzard isnt stuipid: It is enough to ban people who bot without paying any money to them so all the other players think Blizzard is banning all the botters, but actually they are just banning the ones who dont pay any money at all, or (maybe) stop paying money. I am pretty sure they have some simple algorithms to calculate weather a cheater/botter generates profit over time or not. This is also why people can use absolutely obvious bots like Honorbuddy in WoW. Blizzard does not want to bann somone who is funding them, but they have to if other (paying) players report them. In Hearthstone botting is by far not that obvious and a reporting player will never now if the player he reported actually gets punished. This is why things like https://www.thebuddyforum.com/hearthbuddy-forum/202175-banned-hearthstone-3-4-times.html happen. Maybe we can gather some more data about this to prove my point, so I go first: When did you start using the bot?: About 3 months ago Did you use any other bots or similar software that is violating the ToU before?: Yes What is your schedule for using the bot?: On average 8 hours per day (Goldcap + daily quests) How do you use the bot? (should be irrelevant if my theory ís correct, otherwise this information can be used to at least weaken it (not enough to disproof it)) Auto-Concede: No. I think it is pointless, who cares if my winrate is 60% or 90%, it would be enough to win >0% of all games. Game mode: Mostly Ranked and Casual, sometimes arena Which decks do you use?: The same ones I play with on my own or sometimes even worse for getting the quests done (again: I dont care about winrates because its not my time thats wasted). How much money do you spent?: Total: ca. 120 € My Rule: Buy largest possible amount of new stuff everytime something new is released (40 classic packs, Naxx, 60 GvG packs) Did you recieve any warnings?: Never Did you get banned?: No Btw: I am a german physicist with a lot of programming experience and general computer knowledge. I actually enjoy doing all the math (eg. how to spend gold to get most new cards, what does it take to get a full collection, etc.) more then actually playing the game (I am a really bad player). Some final thoughts: I do understand that the reason most people use bots in "F2P" games for is because they do not want to spent money. But which case does hurt more: Spending some money (my goal is to find out whats the minimum) or loosing an account you may or may not have invested houndreds of hours of your lifetime in. And I think there are many hoplessly adicted people that actually spent some (ridicolously..) high amounts of money in the game (just like me, be careful not to get hit by the sarcasm train) but still do not want to spent all the money needed to get a full collection (which should be at least 600€ if you get lucky according to my current data). And here is my tip for people who want to stop using the bot and may ask themselve when it is save again to buy some packs. Well I think you allready now my answer: Now of course! Sacrifice some money for the Blizzard god to settle his fury. Bottom I want to find out whether my theory matches the observation or not. And if so I even want to reverse engineer blizzards dicision algorithm to be able to make predictions on how much money you have to spend to be safe. But what I need to reach this goal is data, lots of lots of data. So if you are reading this: Please send me all the information you got and check back here for the results. You can reply to this post or even (if you came here from google and you do not want to create an account) send me a mail to send.me.ban.data@gmail.com. To make thinks a little bit easier for me please use the interview strucutre above, you can shorten it a little if you want to.
This thread is pointless. I got banned even when I spent more than $200 USD on a previous account with Hearth Crawler. I just got released from the ban and am botting full time now with HB. Money doesn't equate to not getting banned. It's the amount of noise the community makes that causes Blizzard to take action against bots.
Wel I see this wont work. But at least I tried. @chocho I never understood why you would use the bot for more then 30 Wins/day. The only thing you get is some cosmetic gold (on cards from leveling and on your hero portraits), is this really worth it? Personally I do not care about this at all. @pigumao To sum it up: I was saying: I have a thesis, lets find out whether its true or not. You replied: No it is not, because I am an example for someone who still got banned after paying money. I am sorry but if this was enough to proof or disproof anything science would be really funny. To actually find out whether a statement could be true withihn a sufficiently small standard deviation you need much more data. Problem here = Used HearthCrawler. The reason is: the biggest amount of users that got banned in the first wave was people using HearthCrawler, why? Cause they gave Blizzard the info. More or less said it on the site for HearthCrawler(That they have been in discussion with blizzard and decided to close down the bot, even on the same day as the ban wave.) Pretty easy to see that Hearthcrawler sold-out all its users. When people were reporting here, mostly people whom used both Crawler and buddy got banned but people who only used Buddy survived(exception; 24/7 usage for Golden portrait people = got also banned) OnT: Of course they want people to pay money to make the wheels spin. I think your observation is correct as i myself is only playing for gold cap/quest per day to use on Arena. Is there really any people who play more after they are done with gold cap/quest? unless you are trying for Pro?
I actually think this theory of "not getting banned" is kinda working. I bough complete Diablo 3 package(btw Diablo 3 is fucking boring dont buy it its waste of time) i also bough something arround 300 packs with my money i also bough complete naxxramas and i do pay monthly for WOW allready 5 month in the row. I'm using bot like 24\7 70% of all games are Casual the rest is all Ranked or Arena. I did not get any warrnings or bans either but what i've got is Golden Shaman and Hunter in less then 2 weeks (THATS PRETTY AWSOME!) I had even had a specific deck made special for Hearthbuddy(i was watching how this dumb bot is playing good cards... god it was awful so i changed deck till he played everything really good) and i got something like rank 7 or 5 i really cant remember it. Then bot got changed new bot is doing pretty good with my own decks and i dont want to get high ranked cuz i think there is less ppl and possibility to get reported or spoted is alot higher
detection and bans Click a button and detect bots, really? Clearly blizzard cannot do this or they can and choose not to. I think the first choice is more plausible. I had two accounts going with crawler at the same time. One i used and abused and the other i just played ranked to see how far it could get. I got to rank 2 and it was still playing while the account i abused with fast mode play and 200 games a day and three golden heroes in 4 weeks was banned in that wave. Now if they could detect that bot or this one for that matter it would be instant ban. No they clearly ran a script looked at stats and came to a logical conclusion no one person could do that in that amount of time and that is how they banned people. I did some other things to test the waters on that free account and I know that contributed to that ban as well but i wont say what i did. Blizzard could care less if people bot their free game. When i play to farm i concede all the time and i love the fact when i q i have bots giving me free wins all day. I can tell when i play a HB bot , cant you guys? The problem is blizzard cant and they just cant go banning people for no reason or it makes them look bad. Dont abuse the free gold and golden heroes and you have nothing to worry about. Im an American Physicist and Rocket Scientist btw too.
