So I am at college and the only way I can play is with my Macbook Pro using windows 7 in bootcamp. Unfortunately Apple does not let the bootcamp side utilize all the power in the Macbook when it is on the windows side. Therefor, creating pretty terrible performance when playing the game. I have to keep settings on pretty much the lowest setting possible or the performance takes a crap. I have the baseline macbook pro 13 inch (mid 2012). Specs: 2.5 GHz Intel core i5 4GB of 1600 DDR3 Ram and intel graphics 4000 (1024 MB). My question is for anyone else using bootcamp to bot/play or anyone with extensive knowledge on the subject, how do you think I can pump more performance out of the computer. Would launching the game/HB from an external HDD increase performance? Should I purchase more ram for the computer? The graphics and proccessor are hardwired into the computer and can't be changed nor would if I could as I would just purchase a new computer. Are there any settings within the game or on windows/bootcamp that I could change to increase performance? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
so - your goal is to run one WoW and one Hb @ max Fps / graphics or as many as possible @ min Fps / graphics ?
Mac Pro 2013 with HB I run HB on my Mac Pro with Bootcamp, and wow installed. It runs hot but its on high settings with no issues. If you run wow on a USB HDD the USB will be the bottleneck, you are far better off running it locally on Macs SSD for performance. Would not recommend external storage. My Mac pro has 4GB ram and seems to work fine with wow. Remember your going to be running wow in 32bit mode so the benifits of more ram for the game are pointless in my view, yes windows will still address more memory but the game will not benefit. Apple Graphic are normally very good, as long as its a newish model (2012+) you should have any issues on medium to high settings. Bootcamp has no performance hits that i have noticed, its not a "emulated" version of windows like a VM it is a dual boot, so it doesn't have to go though the mac OS at all and so doesn't have the performance hits that a Vm would normally have. Apple hardware is amazing in quality and adding the windows OS gives you the access to software that is so missing in apple. TLDR: I play/bot every day to and from work (1 1/2 hours each way) on my Mac Pro 2013 with Retina in bootcamp windows 7 64bit ult. 0 issues.
I run bootcamp on my macbook pro with windows 7 and honorbuddy. Get the same if not better performance than mac partition.
While not contributing anything to the thread really, I just have to comment this. Apple hardware is EXACTLY the same as 'Windows' hardware. Back in 2012 I played around with a Mac and BootCamp. It used graphics drivers from 2009 *hint hint* To OP: If you don't intend to play yourself, but automatic botting, I would recommend throwing Linux on BootCamp instead of Windows. Mac OS is built on Linux, so Linux generally runs very well on Macs. Then use VirtualBox to emulate Windows. If you intend to play, like with Enyo etc, I can't help you
First i would make sure all needed drivers and windows are updated (graphic specifically). As stated above, bootcamp is not the same as a virtual machine, bcs when u boot windows from bootcamp mac OS is not active, so there should not be a noticeable performance difference. So your problem is pbbly in the windows installation/drivers...
First thanks everyone for your responses, I have the mid 2012 version and it runs at horrible FPS on windows 7 64 bit with no other programs open except wow + HB. My intentions are to get better performance out of the computer like turning up graphics to higher settings without getting performance nuked. I intend to arena with a very good paid combat routine that I have done in the past.
