I just wanted to make a quick post about my opinion regarding using bots in rated pvp. I think the level grind, gold farm, and honor grind are all bad mechanics in WoW, and when using a bot for these things you are not really having a negative effect on anyone else's game. Furthermore, most people with any kind of job or school going on can not realistically put the time required into these things. People who do these things manually generally lose out on a lot of other things in life, which is why I think using a bot is really good. Yes, it is a violation of the TOS, but at the same time, I don't see any real ethical problem with it. By leveling characters or honor farming you are not really hurting anyone else's progression. Where I do see a problem is people who use bots in competitive PvP. The thing about rating, is that if you gain rating it means that someone else lost rating. It is 0 sum. It is a competition, and cheating in a competition like this is poor sportsmanship. I am equally against people who do other forums of cheating for rating such as win trading. I know I'm dealing in shades of grey here, and I am certainly not advocating that the makers of honor buddy should be taking a stance on this. I am just asking those who use bots in arenas to think about what they are doing, and to consider drawing a line at ranked PvP. Ranked PvP is a lot of fun, and it's really worth learning to do manually. If you do use a bot for rating, you will have to live with the knowledge that your rating is not in any way an accurate representation of your skill level.
Grinding PvP rating is equally time consuming. Sure, if you have the time. Same thing happens if you play with or without a bot.
Well...there hasn't been a post about this in |-| this long. There are some legit people that play that do enjoy the farming of ores or herbs etc. When a bot swoops in and steals it first or kills that rare mob then they lose. Whether you use a bot to level/farm gold/herbs/(fill in the blank) you are using a bot. Plain and simple. If someone chooses to use a bot to do Arenas or Rated BGs they are also using a...wait for it...Bot. They just choose to utilize it in a different way. Does this make the way you use the bot more legit or the way others use the bot more legit? Neither is the answer.
And just to add. Some people actually try to program CRs to do better than humans in PvP. So the question then becomes are you better or worse than a program? There are VERY few CRs that can compete with a true PvPer.
You bot for gold, i bot for rating. If i cared about my inner feelings of accomplishment I would not bot and also not play this shitty game. Please post more useless threads /END
I bot so I can do endgame Ranked pvp. At the end of the day if you are not competitive you will not understand someone who is. Using a bot to gaIn rating in wow is similar to using chess software to win at online chess.
Completely off topic; what's the highest rating you folks have gotten? And what CR you using to get there?
You are entering the rating territory where you could be invited to participate in arena tournaments with money prizes. Obviously, if you went, you would be publicly humiliated as the cheater you are. I hope your gladiator mount is worth it. Good job on creating a LUA script though, you deserve some credit for that; why not sell it and make a little money, since you won't make any from your rating... If you are using scripts to pilot others for money at least I would understand that.
It is worth it, bot on, bot on! I knocked barry out of 3k last season with my bot, super fun times, probably not for him though.
I'm sure a lot of botters have serious objections to other botters, but when you yourself bot you can't be judgmental against others doing the same thing. You prize PvP over gold farming and gathering. There are likely a lot of people that have the opposite feelings. You perform actions with your bot that upsets other people that enjoy aspects of the game you do not. I use the bot to perform repetitive tasks like fishing and archeology. I also use it to level characters. It is really annoying to play against botters in PvP because of the perfect interrupts and CC. Botters also set an extremely high standard for RAID DPS that can make it difficult for nonbotters to keep up with. Your gold and ore farming has an impact on the economy on your server whether you sell it or not. If you follow your botting behavior through to conclusion almost all botting affects other players in a mostly negative way. I haven't botted in a long time, but if Blizz could come up with a method for 100% bot detection I would happily let them ban my 10 year old account. The game would be much better off without bots, but I've never known a game that could stop botting or hacking completely.
i don't think any one using a bot is going to achieve a rating higher than 1600 once you break that mark these people realy know there class and whit bots do the optimal rotation and perfect counters i still don't see them beating some one at a rating level of over 1600
are your serious how do bots destroy the games economy the people who bot are whats pretty much keeping the servers markets going and the people who don't like to farm benefit from it if people stop botting there would be way less stuff on the auction house think about that when your buying you cloth later that no one wanted to farm coz ur only getting 90 silver each for it but your desperate to max out that profession bots don't destroy they economy they keep it rolling i myself don't post tons of auction i mainly bot to get my own mats and a lot of the gold i do make i always help people out like people new to the game because i remember when i first started and had nothing and didn't know how to get gold i feal your pain with pvp and that's why i don't pvp with a bot i actualy learn my class and play by myself un assisted because i enjoy pvp so in my opinion bots contribute to the economy not destroy it
