Hi there, so my main account recently got suspended for 72 hours, to keep my self occupied i bought another account with a instant 90 push. My question is, is there a risk to get my main account banned again if i exclusively bot on the second account? Blizz, f.e. could should record that both accounts are connecting with the same IP and wush...both banned? I wouldnt dare to risk my main..
No, blizzard would have indisputable evidence to ban both your accounts, unless you put the same name as both of them and by that i mean you put your real name on the account, i have one of my accounts under my brothers name, they just cant ban you for using the same IP
Usually, they intend to mass ban all the accounts, caught in gold selling, and these "around" them. But for general botting, they apply penalty to the bot only. And in 90+% of the cases, these are automatic bans, so no noticable GM intervention has been performed.
Unfortunately I lost my 10 years old main account to prove you wrong. Having alts in botting guilds was evidence enough for them to perma ban him. Never botted, never even was in the same comp that the bots were. I'm inclined to agree with imtakinusrs to the fact that this only happen to gold-selling related bans, but if I were the OP, I would stay away from botting on the same IP for a while. They are changing how they behave, there are several IP bans (or claims) in the ban section of the last days.
I never botted with my main account. It was in a different computer. I used bots in diferent accounts using the same IP, diferent computers. Any link between my main account and the bots was, my main had 2 officer alts in guilds that were used to store botting gold. I set them there to make sure the gold was accessible even after a mass ban , considering they would never ban an account that never botted (main). I was wrong.
I also have a main and once had a suicide account. Main and suicide account were both in the same guild. My main I did bot on and I still do, my suicide account received an permanent ban for gathering 24/7 in pandaria. After sending them an email it was reduced to 72hrs. After the 72hrs I started again 24/7 gathering, 3 days later permanent ban. My suicide character deposited all the stuff and gold into the guild bank, on my main I took everything from the guild bank. My main did not get any warning or 72hr suspension, even though I'm botting on it aswell, just less than the suicide character. I'm not saying it is safe to do so, just sharing my experience I had. EDIT: Both accounts were running on the same IP and same computer, but usually not at the same time.
there's at least 10 different ways I can think of right off the top of my head where they could tie accounts together. If you're afraid on losing your main, don't bot on absolutely anything that could tie the 2 accounts together. That includes any of the following info: Names on accounts Billing information of any kind Ways you pay for the game same hardware same IP same guild same play patterns same friends same macros any type of mailing any type of trading Those are just a few ways they could tie accounts together off the top of my head. Some of those are pretty flimsy to tie accounts together, but any combination could easily be used.
Yes im absolutely aware of all of them, but i just was curious about how Blizz handles issues which dont directly involve the main account in botting and if anyone happens to have some experience in that case. See, i mean, actually they dont really got anything on an account which happens to be played on an pc running a bot previously. It couldve been my brother or my roommate or whatever. You know what i mean? But i got it, its just too dangerous, at least for the moment.
The answer is is they handle it any way they want. The one fact about blizz's ban policies is that they make the rules up as they go, and they can ban you for any reason, at any time they want. Noone can say one way or the other, or can tell you with 100% certainty that you will or won't be banned for doing something. If you break the rules, expect to be banned on all your accounts, whether you bot on them or not.
Using the second account to just bot personal materials for your main account is very very low risk. Even if the alt account got banned your main would most likely be unaffected. The only thing blizzard really chain bans for is RMT related stuff. (Gold Trading, Account Sharing, Etc.) Just try to be smart and don't go too ham. The majority of bans you would be dealing with would be player reports so just avoid those and you are fine. Also on a side note towards the whole "Blizzard can tie my billing together to flag me." Blizzard GM's ( the people who actually ban you ) are a COMPLETELY different department internally. They have ZERO ACCESS to ANY of your billing information in the MAJORITY of cases you will NEVER be tied together like this. The only thing that would warrant this type of investigation towards your account would be a mass gold selling flag / investigation
if I were to do it id run it on a different pc with a diferent net connection or they will link ips use a game card to purchase game time and use different information when creating the account what were you doing with the bot what profile were you running and for how long
Thanks for your input. But still, i dont think im gonna keep on botting. Maybe im gonna setup a vpn and a vpc to run the bot, but im not sure about it yet. Yeah, maybe i will set up a vpn to run it, not sure now if its worth the effort though. Well i run the bot the bot to level my alts. One toon leveled via grinding from 90-100 (used the appropriate profile of the forum) and farmed the full pvp gear in about 2 days (with several breaks, never non-stop). The second toon level 90-100 with kiks leveling profile, it was kicked while being in a fresh bg session, about 10 minutes in. The mail + bann arrived about 15 minutes later. Personally, I think that i was attracting attention of warden (or w.e.) while using kicks profile. Of course, i can not prove that, but i got several friends botting bg 24/7 not being affected by bans at all. So the only actual difference is that I used kicks profile to level and they dont. But thats just a hunch...
I have used kicks to level, ran mop random dungeons parties, solo ran gundrak profile, sold gold, botted BG's. Had a few bans, tbh I think its totally down to luck. I am way way ahead so am happy to take the risks.
I bot on my main, level with questing and dungeons. I run dungeon buddy for raids. But most my bot does on my main typically is run garrison crap, fish, and for custom rotations. I think if you are there to play and use your not discretely, you are fine. A dps in a dungeon is typically fine... I think the biggest flags are how long you bot for. My recommendations are, and I should follow these too cuz botting dungeons are risky since ur in a group is as follows 1) don't bot for long periods 2) try to avoid high populated areas 3) know how your guild functions 4) if you have suicide bots, don't have any of your main associated with them. This means do not be in the same guild and do not trade. I had 5 bots going. All 5 were on same ip and machine as my main. On my main I transfered bags to these bots. I was lucky my main didn't get banned, but luckily I wasn't tied in any other way. I went out of my way to play a bag contest in the starting zone..lol.. Other players thought they could win bags from me.. At this point my other bot was on a VPN on a vm when I tried to trade them... I had a pseudo conversation with myself and everything. .. Just trying to cover my ass if they read logs. Anyway 5 vpns kept disconnecting it wasn't doable, so I had to switch to a non VPN and had all 5 on same ip... Botted about 12 hrs a day leveling and running mop heroics. The bots were banned after about 5 days. I was super worried about my main, but nothing came to it.. The only tie to my main was the bags I bought. Anyway, I wouldn't be too anal about botting if you don't abuse the game.. Obviously I had 5 bots on the same ip running mop heroics with no wod or anything. They will ban you eventually for that. Botting for for herbs for yourself or fur, not really using the ah etc you will be fine. Shit, back in mop I used to herb and mine a night on my main and put the herbs ore in ah every morning with 0 bans. I sold gold once, and traded for a mop key once.. Call me lucky or stupid, but if the amounts are small enough I don't think they really blink an eye at that. The thing I did do after my 5 accts were banned is logged into my VPN and changed the region before logging into my main. I'm really hoping I can get the vpns to run well enough for next time.
Wow, that's dedication, man. I sometimes think there's a guy from Blizzard called Gary reading these forums. You just made Gary chuckle with your pseudo-conversation. Anyway, to be on topic, from my experience, I don't think there's a 100% sure way to protect your main IF you're botting to sell gold. If you're botting in order to support your main with some money, you might be lucky and avoid a ban or get a 72h first. Otherwise, you're just on thin ice as long as you get in contact with your bots (either guild, trade, mail, IP, machine or whatever). I lost 3 main accounts so far, oldest one being 8 years old, but lost a couple of hundred suicide bots in the past 5 years.
