I believe just the WoW License because they allow you to move accounts off a charged back email. So I am 99% sure it's just the License.

Has anyone recommending chargebacks actually done it? Because I've had bad charges on my credit card before and you don't just call and go on record lying to your credit card company just to rip of 15 or 30 bucks from blizzard...

you also don't have any recourse for action if you were paying with a debit card. There wont be a discussion of faulty charges because they'll have a record of the authorization and they will be able to see where the initial request (you) and the authorization (blizzard) happened. You'll do nothing but piss your bank off for wasting their time.

Chargeback on paypal? Sure go ahead, but if blizzard was so inclined to provide proof and/or paypal decide to investigate further you could have your paypal account closed.

Where do kids come up with these ideas? This is not how people are facilitating credit card fraud against blizzard... anyone actually getting this method to work was using a VPN for 100% of their transactions/interaction with paypal and blizzard. Otherwise getting caught lying would be way more annoying that losing the money for a subscription to WoW.

Not saying chargeback was your idea, but if you got it from reading the stupid threads around here recommending it don't listen. Odds are they are just mad and bored and haven't even tried to do it on their own.

If you didn't receive service for that whole month, how does that constitute fraud? I paid for 30 days I got 2 out of the 30 (regardless of why I can't get the other 28), I want you to refund what you stopped me from using that's all. Not being dishonest - anyway started the charge back process with Amex see what comes out of it. What's the worse that happens, they come back and say well even tho you received 2 days you cant get a refund sorry?

So just answering for the sake of being unintelligent and obvious while bringing nothing to the conversation is YOUR answer? I said nothing more than I paid for 30 days and I got 2 out of it. The reason is not relevant. I'm not trying to fool anyone, I am agreeing to pay for the 2 days just not the other 28 which is what I asked my cc company to get a refund for.

hahaha, the reason IS RELEVANT! OFC you don't want to talk about that but you were (an all the HB users too) well informed about the risk.

The fact is that Blizzard didn't scam you and you're saying to PP\CC company Blizz did.

I did a charge back on just one of my accounts. I tried to log in the day before the ban and the sub had expired. I resubbed but wasn't able to log in at all that day. I woke up in the morning and still couldn't log in (kept saying account inactive with a link to Bnet to pay for new sub). That evening when I got home from work my account was banned.

The rep I talked to was very polite and looked into it for me. I told him I didn't need a refund on my other accounts, I had clearly used them and the suspension was fair. He was still unable to initiate a refund however.

As far as I see it they have a right to the money on my other subs. I broke the TOS. But on this particular account I never was given the service I paid for... I'm no lawyer but I feel in the right on this one.

The reason is irrelevant, I never said I was scammed stop making shit up and read what I said bozo. Paid for 30 got 2, give me back 28 - the word scam doesn't apply here since i never used it.

      Have a wonderful day IGG.

I really don't get how many people in this forums are that stupid.
You know you violated their ToS, they do. So they took action and close your account.
If you just bought a month of game time you can write them a ticket and ask to partially refund it. If they don't it leaves you with these options.

      A)
Get legal advise if in your country there are laws that allow you to get partial compensation of the gametime you paid for and are unable to use.
Now this will most likely cost you more than 12 month of game time. So if this is a principle thing for you go ahead and do it, this does make you a stupid idiot for spending more money than the sub was worth tho.

      B)
      Just let it go.

In worst case you just bought 12 month of gametime and lost $78. You are a stupid idiot for buying more than 1 month of gametime on your botting account anyway. But you are less stupid than the guy getting a lawyer involved and a lot less stupid than chargeback fraud.

      C)
Stick it to the man and issue a charge back on a perfectly fine transaction. I mean we live in a world where your super anonymous online identity aka BobTheTauren can't ever get you in trouble in real life right? You are the invincible anonymous spearhead of the internet. Wrong.

Because you just hit the jackpot on being most likely mentally challenged.
You just committed fraud and on top of that your bank will fine the merchant ( in this case Blizzard ) a fee for the charge back they had to do in your name.
You just created financial damage for Blizzard and they are now able to pursue you for fraud. As Blizzard is actively pursuing credit card fraud in any way by company policy it might take up to five years to drop the hammer on you, but in the end you'll have to pay for the damages, their lawyers, get punished for your fraud and now have a nice entry for fraud in your criminal record certificate.
Busting any chance of a job that pays more than minimum wage or people trusting you with more money that you could carry in pennies in one hand for the rest of your life.

So the least stupid option is to just let it go. Bonus points if you can just laugh it off and watch all these morons in here who actively charge back their 12$ subscriptions to end up with a 6 months ban, a fraud case and ruining their future for getting their ego hurt because of digital pixels in a online world.

This, once again, goes back to the ToS. They very clearly state that you waive any and all fees that have been charged to you in the case of a ban or suspension. Something you once again agreed to. This is in the US btw. The EU ToS states that you are entitiled to a pro-rated refund based on how much service was actually offered to you.

All blizzard has to do is point this out to either your credit card company or paypal and next thing you know, you have fraud charges against you.

You also can't argue that you didn't know because you clearly agreed to the ToS when you started playing the game.

In the world of contracts we live in, stating ignorance doesn't give you a free pass, it just makes you look more stupid to a judge if it ever gets that far.

I don't see why you people just don't go the route of politely contacting blizzard and asking them for a refund. The worst they can say is no.

You're wrong. If my CC disputes the partial charge for the time I didn't get to use, finds that it is legitimate for Blizzard to keep the full amount and not partially refund me then they will reinstate the full charge on my account and make me pay for the charge back fee that Blizzard incurred. No fraud charges will be filled.

He is not wrong, every CC has different ways to handle fraud charges. If you are lucky they will reinstate the charge, if you are unlucky you could be charged with fraud. Id read the CC policy for chargebacks and then decide if 10-90 euros is worth it.

Good, let them persue, then they have to show EVERY GOD DAMNED THING THEY HAVE on him, or might be related to him in open public court, for him to share with the entire world. Discovery is a bitch.

That's not how its working. The court will most likely have an independent consultant verify that the logs Blizzard has of him using a ToS violating program are accurate and the method to identify the violation is technically sufficient to proof the violation of the user as Blizzard could argue that showing the whole process they use to identify violations in public court could include company / trade secrets or make them vulnerable against tools violating the ToS if they have to present the exact detection method.

It's equivalent to what's happening when you get sued for copyright infringement using BitTorrent.
They don't need to show "EVERY GOD DAMNED THING THEY HAVE on him" they just need to proof to the court that the technical method they use to identify ToS violations is accurate enough and that the user in question specifically violated the ToS is in fact the originator of the violation.

I still think $13 is not worth ruining your life over.

      thanks @frosticus

I knew that was around somewhere. Obviously this discussion is hard because of the amount of different countries people live in and the fact that they accept so many types of payment. When insulated by some various layers of payment providers like USER > PAYPAL > VISA > BLIZZARD it may be possible to pull a fast one, but it would technically be committing fraud. Getting your paypal account banned forever is not worth 15 bucks in my opinion. Do they investigate every chargeback thoroughly? of course not, but if enough people are dishonest enough that it makes financial sense for them to do it of course they will.

I just wish people would stop advising crap like this to other people when their made up stories don't make sense and they are most likely posting out of some misguided sense of justice in the face of the big bad company pulling a fast one on them. Even when it was just a matter of time anyways.

Thats the US Version of the ToS ??

What people needs to understand is that there is a difference between the US and EU ToS/EULA too. Though, it wont help your banned accounts.

And another thing is that they can dispute the chargeback, but they need to provide why you were terminated/suspended as a customer. One could try to claim they wouldnt provide you with information on how you broke the ToS to the CC and that blizz refused to tell you what you did, but GG when blizz informs your CC with proof.

The point beeing: Blizz needs to show the CC the reason for terminating your customer relations if CC was to file you for fraud.

BUT I do not recommend this as there has been many good posts in this thread about why you shouldnt do it, cause its Fraud.

You allready knew that you were breaking the ToS and then you cant claim refund. If you live in EU (Go through awhole lot of documentation) and you have the right to be refunded some of it. Check out ryftobuddy post
