First of all I want to say yes, yes, I know don't bot on an account you don't want to lose ect ect:p I'm new to this game, I just came from WoW and after about a week of hand playing this game I took the dive and bought a 3 person key to expand on later. After a bunch of research, I've come to the conclusion that its semi safe to bot 24/7? can anyone confirm this? I'm just looking to catch up and get everything to 50 before the xpac comes out so I'd have to 24/7 it for at least a week to catch up. Thoughts on this?

Pretty safe, in my opinion - safer than WoW it looks like. There are people still botting 24/7 and have been for months, iirc. As long as you're not doing RMT (buying/selling Gil/etc.), you should be fine. I believe a FFXIV dev was quoted as saying that if you bot, keep it to yourself. I think they welcome subscribers as long as they're not exploting the system to a significant degree. They WILL ban for botting, but it's few and far between from what I've seen. You can always check the Lodestone for numbers on bans and types of bans under the Notices tab:

      FINAL FANTASY XIV, The Lodestone

"Actions Taken Against In-Game RMT & Other Illicit Activities (May 21)" is the latest topic on the issue as of this post.

I got all my classes to level 50 fine, just try not to stay in the same place too long. RB is good but it is pretty easy to spot a bot so it depends on the people around if they want to be dicks or not.

"safe" is a very relative term, dont forget rule #1, but I can add Ive been botting 2 accounts basically 24/7 for several months.
right here in front of an expansion Id say the risk goes up a lot.

Thanks for the tip and link. I didn't know they posted things like that. And yeah, I feel semi-safe botting 24/7 on my main account - at least for catching up. I was just really worried at first due to WoW being so anti-botting I was scared SE was the same, I didn't want to lose $40 ce steam key for noobing it up and suicide botting my main account lol.

And off topic - I'm really enjoying this game! I wish WoW had a lot of things that ff does. Definitely looks like I'll be a long term sub.
