Very interesting read. Although, it seems to me that Blizz loves to collect information on accounts and do mass ban waves all in one shot--so to be honest, if this account isn't banned within 6 months, I would be extremely surprised. Not to be a downer, its just historically that's how they have done business. This last ban wave I lost two accounts--funny thing is, the one I botted on the most, I hadn't played in over two weeks. The one I WAS botting on the NIGHT BEFORE leveling 90-100 (monitored), did NOT get banned while the other two accounts I had not played in over two weeks DID. Its hard to tell--but I wish ya luck on this.
They did a mass ban for effect. A lot of people banned didn't do anything wrong, I know this for a fact. I think they looked at various factors like reports, where/how many - past violations - and some detection (mysterious disconnects and such), this was just an attempt to stop people from leaving and not coming back to wow because bots are rampant. Personally I don't want to play a game that is all bots. Why would anyone else. I design and code for a living, detecting hb would be super easy, the only reason they did a mass ban was to create a buzz that Blizzard doesn't allow botters. They looked at the numbers, botters that would leave, botters that would create new accounts, people that would stay because they think botters are gone. I think it was smart on Blizzards part. Sucks for all of us that got suspensions. I also agree with HB's stance on BG/Arena. The biggest problem with botting is letting others know it's happening. It's blatantly obvious when a group of people run together in BG's. In arena, the competition is too good, yes I love to bot in arena, but others know you're botting when you pull impossible interrupts/blocks/stuns/cc's but play like an idiot otherwise. I would be incredibly pissed off if I actually tried and everyone I played was a bot. I love HB and hope they continue to write code for all relevant games. As far as this test goes and everyday bans, they're obviously player driven bans and a small team of observers (as seen in their video). They would only do these mass bans to calm the community, or target people who are drastically changing markets.
1. No 2. No, those people are prolly lying. Would you admit botting? To anyone? 3. Hell No 4. No 5. 100% Yes 6. Hell No. Removing interupts and cc's from cr's would have done the trick. Basic Keyboard mashing should be allowed. Competitive enviroment.. lmao. we all got a soul now or what. If he cares about heat, he should have removed bg buddy. And he didnt. Hurts his pockets to hard i guess, so fck off with that arena block.
1. Why else would they do it? To lose money? 2 I know someone irl who doesn't bot, got their account suspended the same day everyone else did for 6 months, and got it undone the same week. 3 I've been reported before and accused of market manipulation and I always get my account back. 4 Reputation is everything, botting affects that. 6 I get people can play better than bots. When a hunter throws a trap across the map at an exact spot they weren't facing every time there's something wrong....When some interrupts a spell on focus target .01 sec after it's cast every time, something's wrong....
Awesome summary man! Thanks for this information. Hunter's have it made while leveling - good choice. I have a similar project going here: https://www.thebuddyforum.com/honor...an-fresh-account-botting-log.html#post1978966 I'm starting Kicks tonight and will update my findings there. Does anyone have a particular class they would like me to try with? I'm completely indifferent at this point.
You could try with one of my favorite classes, the shaman. I know the preferred leveling spec is enhancement though, which I'm not really interested in. I'm more of a healer than anything, lol, so level with whatever spec you want, as long as the finished character heals. XD
To a point yeah. But anyone with half the brain of a pineapple could write a private plugin to interrupt etc. And yes i also realize that 90%+ of people that just like to press 'Start' would be too lazy to figure out how to so your point would still be valid The rest of the statement i do agree with 100%. But again HB started as a...well...HONOR farming bot so he knew what was going to come eventually
ZoneHunter, would you mind to add second column in the records with time, taken for each level, so we can get a picture, which levels are faster vs others?
Think I saw you the other day Noticed a hunter that perfectly resembled your toon. Let us know how long the toon last. I am interested in getting HB and having a go at it (and almost did literally the day before the massive ban wave) but now I am much more leery. I wouldn't mind losing any accounts I bought for playing with but don't want to risk my main yet. So many people say they are banned within a few hours but then people like you with proof come along and have no problems. So either the others are really unlucky, making it up, or are being more heavily monitored than you are. A few questions for you Zone in regards to prior to this experiment: -Have you ever been banned before this project? If you have, did you change anything / everything prior to project (ip, comp, account, etc)? -Do you use any masking techniques or just play directly from home IP? Seems to me more people are getting banned for using masking techniques than from the bot being found. *If you dont want to answer the above in forum, would you message it to me?*
Yes, I got hit on 6/12 of my accounts with the 6 mos suspension those accounts had been active since the end of Glider though so I was due for a hit. I didn't change anything same wow install, computer, and IP. I don't mask my IP it has no point to my experience. Logically don't you think blizzard would ban a VPN ip -> normal IP much quicker due to the attempt to hide your original location?
The last time I used kicks, i was pretty brazen about it. I let it go full AFK for hours and hours. Normally it gets stuck and gets booted offline for afk. But this round the kicks did 90-100 in like 2 days? It even started doing bonus objectives, which I'm sure helped the speed, which I didn't think it did. Are people known for lying on their ban reports? I don't understand why?
Few reasons why people would lie about it, one being that people see the ban reports and become scared to bot themselves. This makes it so there are less bots in the game (if a person opposing bots would do it) and/or creates less competition in goldfarming.
