Hi guys. Missing wow and considering a return to it and botting of course. Since my prev account is on a 6 month suspension, I can't get to it till november. Just wondering, did we ever discover their method of detection and is it relatively safe to bot nowadays? (in before always a ban risk - i know.)
They still haven't discovered what caused the detection. My main account is on the six month suspension as well, but I created a new account and leveled it by hand, without a routine. At 92, I began to use combat routines. Just be smart about botting.
Hi, Calvo, The development staff is not ever going to discuss details of what might be known about a game client. Such commentary by the staff is tacitly forbidden in public forums for many very good reasons. If commentary is needed on such topics, we suggest taking the questions to another venue. Perhaps, ownedcore. cheers, chinajade
depends if you consider the few hundred accounts hit just the other day "safe" or not. Personally ill never use it again. If a hundred thousand accounts doesnt deter you, a few hundred across all x86 bots wont either so have at it. As for me... fool me once shame on me... fool me twice.. well shame on me again apparently. Wont be a third time. @ 50 bucks per bannage and the majority of the botmakers doing nein about it... botting is for gold farmers and suicide botters now imo. not to mention courtesy of our open forum policy i have a guild stalker who is spreading my business about after finding out who i was here. It was fun for a second, but ive had my fill.
No offence klepp0906, but I see the 5 years of no banwaves vs Honorbuddy as the real mistake of Honorbuddy staff. Their hardwork in securing the bot let the most people believe the bot is realistically undetectable, and the users have zero risk for their accounts, while botting on them. Which obviously is not true! If hypothetically, HB had just one banwave yearly, I am certain some people would not flame them, when 13.5 hit.
And by a few hundred accounts, you mean the 10-15, right? There hasn't been a few hundred accounts lost in a single day since the banwave.
I am wandering, how you had the conclusion that the 6-month ban were turned to permanent? Did you have official Blizzard CS notice, or simply log in the account and seen the banned red text?
Rest assured there are other individuals out there discussing how HB was detected. We know what went on, we know how to bypass it, but bypassing something like that takes a lot of time, testing, and effort. Go about your daily routines on throw-away accounts as usual and tread lightly, because right now Blizz has laid landmines and issued a challenge. The best we can do now is play hypothetical minesweeper with them until we've cleared all the mines. Hit a mine get banned, clear the mines and live to bot another day. Just have to figure out how to avoid their mines and stay clear of them is all. P.S. - Yes the bans appear as permanent on the accounts, but I assure you they are not. If they were then nobody would be able to find their toons on the armory.
The selection of a 6 month suspension was highly unusual, and there must be a purpose to it. Being the tinfoil wardrobe person that I am, I fear a much darker side... It wouldn't be surprising if Bliz will ultimately ban all the 6-month suspensions, once they have bought the expansion and paid for a couple of months of game time. This gets them a boatload of money, makes refunding the cost of the expansion difficult, and pisses off the botter so much they will never return or try again. Since the accounts have already been 'tagged', banning them will send another wave of "Honorbuddy is detected" through our Community--even though no additional work was needed to do this. Of course, if their subscriber numbers continue to drop so severely, they have the option of just allowing the bots to remain. No matter what, its a win-win for them. If you wear the same tinfoil wardrobe I do, you will never re-use as an account that has more than a 72h suspension on it. Just my $0.02. As, we have no special knowledge of how Bliz chooses to do business. cheers, chinajade
yeah I agree ..what I did was added Wow1 and Wow2 accounts to the main one I was given a 6 month time out on ..I still have the mounts and achieves I will never run the main again. I also am just trying out ONLY manual movement and the CR route exclusively. I am paranoid i guess. We shall see how it goes.
