The way Blizz handles Bot Reports.

Lately ive been seeing alot of botters on tichondrius, i report them in game and these people are still there everyday and night for about 2 days after i reported them, nevermind that theyve been there for another 3 days straight before that, last time i checked third party programs are illegal, these people are obviously botting and still havent been dealt with, so does blizzard have an excuse why botters run wild?

Run wild" is a bit harsh, Vex. There's method to our perceived madness, I assure you.

Think of it this way: A band of cops are attempting to bust a drug distribution ring. They don't just want to catch one or two low level dealers, but effectively cripple the ring as thoroughly as possible by arresting and convicting all members involved in the production, trafficking, and use of this one particular drug. What's the best way to do this? Through investigation and planning, mate. Door-busting, hat-waving, shoot-from-the-hip vigilante tactics would probably yield more immediate results in this situation, but the efforts wouldn't be as lucrative in the long term. Know what I mean?

So these cops send in two or three of their own undercover. They spends months observing and watching the ring's habits, learning about who's in charge, who's buying, who's selling, and how the product gets trafficked. Now, even though these cops could probably bust a plethora of lower echelon dealers and buyers, they know that bringing a few of these guys downtown won't do anything?it'll get them off the street, sure, but unless the entire network is nailed, they'll just be replaced shortly after their arrest.

And so the cops wait. They wait until they've got enough evidence to bring the whole thing down in one fel swoop. Why? Because not only will it hopefully catch everyone involved, but, by forgoing more timely arrests, it'll also prevent the bosses and ring leaders from learning about our plans prematurely and then using that information to cover their tracks.

This is exactly how we behave and respond, and you'll notice that when we mete out punishment, that it comes in big waves. By tracking and observing these guys for months?instead of pouncing immediately?we can see just how deep the rabbit hole goes. And, what's more? We can do it without these guys knowing. The developers of the software in question are wily, and will adapt their programming immediately should there be any hint that we're onto them. So, in the end, proceeding with caution will yield more results. Slow and steady wins the race, eh?

I know it's probably frustrating on your end, having to witness these guys day in and day out?and for that I do apologize. I know it's rough. Even so, I encourage you to just report them, ignore them, and then let us do our thing. Know that our Hacks Team is working ever so diligently behind the scenes and that one day? One day they'll swoop in again and smite the exploitative as mightily as we've done in the past. Just takes time.

So if I understand correctly, you are a botter going around reporting fellow botters? I can only ask, why? I have an illegal Sat hookup but I dont go around reporting on others with the same hookup. the same applies to botting, I bot but dont go around reporting other botters even though I do see a lot of them. If they over-bot so much the better as they will make my own botting activity less noticable. I tag alot of them in my friends list (if there the same side as me) and I follow their activities and try to avoid the areas they are in. Quite often they will suddenly disapear and never return..banned perhaps.?.?. I am still around to gather where they messed up.

If you report them just because they are botting where you want to bot, that is the same as saying "its not fair, I wanted to illegally gather those herbs that you illegally gathered first". If you dont personally bot, then what in the world are you doing here on this forum?

Just to point out, it's not the OP that's reporting botters, it's a direct quote from the article linked.

 

These responses sadden me. The OP was merely quoting a Blue Post on the Blizzard forums to highlight a description of how they handle bot reports. I seriously doubt specs intention was to state that he himself reports bots. In other words, No, you did not understand correctly.

Regarding the post , I am sure they are in here stealing our ideas, beware of nubs that can't read!!

 

If that post is true, then they just flat out told everyone now what they are going to do, which means they have already set a net or are close to doing it... or maybe I'm reading too much into it. Seems odd he would divulge this information unless he was confident it wouldn't help anyone who didn't want to get caught.

 

My apologies, I did not see the Original Post listed at the top. When I originally read the post it sounded as if someone had made a report to Blizz and was posting there reply.

Edit: In my defense, the way the original post is formatted, it does looks as though the “Original Post” is a complaint by the poster about reporting botters and nothing being done about it with a follow up of a posting of a Blizz reply for the reasons why nothing was being done right away. The only name the entire post references is “Vex” which could well be the posters WOW toons name. So, again, sorry for slamming the poster but you can see how I came to the conclusion that I did.

 

Oh I wouldnt doubt there is already a team working with this bot from blizzard. I'm sure there is more than one blizzard employee who has forum accounts here.
I remember when I worked for Wild Blue satellite isp help desk. I used to post on non official wild blue forums. They treatened to fire me for fair act trade secret thing.
But imagine a team working for blizzard with there job as to do this. I would bet few of them are the profile writers, or what not. Wouldn't that be funny.

Then when you try to fight it. I'm not a bot! and they say ya you are using our profile. lol!
Oh and I'm sure there is a few rogue blizzard employee's here as well. The ones that are hooked on game and think botting is cool.

Always makes me think of these things when people make post like "anyone still botting not banned yet?"
Then look at all who reply. Make list of who to ban next.
