I just came back from about a six month hiatus and noticed that there is an unusual silence from the developers and that HB has been off for somewhere two weeks now. Man, that sucks, I would really like to get into botting again. That being said, the folks that post on this forum have become so poisonous and childish that it is almost unbearable to read any of the posts here. I understand the frustration; the developer has barely spoken about whats going on and everyone is anxious to get back into earning their gold while they work real jobs. But here's the things...the wild speculation and selfish attitudes that the majority of the posts have right now is insane. Over the past few years I have gotten so much value out of HonorBuddy and I do not regret a single bit of it, and I certainly do not believe that the developer owes me a thing. They have given me a product that worked for years with spots of downtime here and there. Now, think of this from the developers point of view. All the posts here are doing is insulting them, harrassing them, senselessly claiming that they are working with Blizzard in some secret program to ban all of us. Does any of this sound like something that would encourage any of you to fix the problem faster? I most certainly would not work extra hours to fix a product for a community that constantly hates upon every thing that I do, as a matter of fact, I would drag my feet significantly more. Some better communication from the developers would be very nice, perhaps a daily post just to let us know that they are thinking about us, but whether or not they do that we still have no right to treat them the way that we are. Be patient, be calm, and play the game the way its meant to be played for a few days. If having to play the game for a few days is so frustrating that you feel the need to take it out on the HonorBuddy developers then perhaps you should consider another game or hobby. HonorBuddy will continue in one form or another as it has for the past 7+ years. Sincerely, A 7+ year HonorBuddy user.
Why not look at the facts on how Bossland "treats" its user base? "Hey everyone, here is this awesome lifetime key for you to purchase"... "Just kidding, lifetime doesn't really mean 'lifetime'" Anyone else feel like you're listening to a former US President ask what the definition of Sexual Relations are? It just goes on from there. I get it, you gotta make money, but you don't fuck the people that helped get you where you are. Another 7+ year HB user
"Treats its users?" All I see is how the community treats the developers, and its like shit. The "lifetime" key that I (and apparently you) purchased 7 years ago was what? Less than $50 USD if I remember correctly and we have absolutely gotten our money's worth out of it. They could have never offered a lifetime key and made you pay $9.99 per month and I suspect you would have done so for years and not even thought twice about it. The price that I paid for HonorBuddy pales in comparison to the hundreds, maybe even thousands, of dollars that I have given to Blizzard. Finally, your US president analogy is absurd and doesn't even apply to this situation.
That doesn't matter. If a seller tells you that you can buy a lifetime key for a certain amount of money, they should stick to it, or it will do damage to their credibility. If they lie about something like that, they can get away with it only if their market position is strong enough. What we see now is that their market position is under siege by Blizzard, and how things look from here, Blizz is winning.
Lifetime was for HB 2 also you can still use your old key on hb 2, hb 2 just wont work with the current wow live version. As you know we are using HB 3 now so its completely different
I see all this talk again about Lifetime keys. HB supporters say you had X amount of time to use it and you got your monies worth. Well, It was called lifetime but it had a 10 year life span attached to it. That's the most important part most people who have blinders on are not seeing. I should have had 120 months to use it and that is the issue. I don't give a fuck about the legal issues the company that offered me a license has. That's their problem, not mine. If someone bought 30 days of game time and they were told they'd only get 7 days after they bought it that person would be pissed.
This is NOT true. First, you cannot download it anywhere, second the lifetime keys have been deleted from the buddyauth. So don't spread this bullshit aboout "you can use HB2 still gagaga..."
It seems the lifetime keys topic is never going to end and i understand why, i get it, the legal issues are forcing Bossland to spend more money on laywers and stuff but that's not a reason to put a middle finger to your user base. Like Raaz just said: And that's exactly what happened, period. Plus, now we have an incredible lack of communications from devs, i remember months ago when a patch dropped we always had someone who posted something about an ETA of a new release, or at least some info, in this moment we just have banwaves and no official word. Sad.
so you're saying someone bought 30 days of gametime and only got 7? I dont believe that. You're gonna need examples
I think the issue is, that you 'complainers' saw this a company and a customer, the REAL users of HB saw it as a community. I bought an LT licence but was more than happy to have it revoked to allow bossland to fight on and provide HB for another year. Anyway its all moot now. https://www.thebuddyforum.com/threads/the-sad-news-honorbuddy-and-others.411956/#post-2538285
