I have a pretty good pc. I've been constantly upgrading the parts in it, but the one thing I haven't upgraded in ages in the graphics card. I'm currently running a GTX 285, and it's about 3 years old now. The performance of it has dropped considerably since I got it. My friend got one not long ago and his is running beautifully which is what made me realise how poor mine has got. I'm considering getting another 285 to SLI with the current one, as that would get me more performance than buying a new card that lacks the performance of these two. However, I don't know whether putting a new card in SLI with this old one will limit its performance, or even whether the combination of the two will be better than a new card due to how old this one is. Any ideas?
you said 3 years old, i would get a new one, well worth your time and money and future. u dont need sli with wow lol
it would be best to get 1-2 1g+ video cards from the last year. I have 2x 5770 and they were cheap. Nothing super expensive (i think they're $130 now). and the onboard 9200 (just for running extra monitors)
^ Definatly I'm using a 2 x 6970's but.. in my other computer i'm runnign 2 x 5770's and they are amazing / cheap
SLI or Xfire will only increase performance by approximatly 30-40%. You will not gain double the processing power by adding a card. Hence, new card is a much better option
