      Time to contribute some theory.

How to get DMF (Darkmoon Faire) rep to exalted in the most efficient way.

TL;DR: Winterspring farming for epic vanilla decks appears to be more efficient if you are not already VERY close to exalted.

After doing your quests handing in thorium widgets you'll need to hand in 97 epic decks (if human or having the guild perk bonus, else 106), or 1358 for non-epic decks (if human or having guild perk bonus, else 1484). The question you should ask here is whether to hand in epic decks or if to hand in non-epic decks.

Rogues deck is cheap in terms of ink.
Swords/Mages/Demons deck give no more rep than rogue's and uses a lot more ink and is therefore not worth considering further.
Vanilla epic decks require only herbs, give 14x the rep of non-epic decks.
BC/WotLK/Cata decks all require additional reagents (primal life/eternal life/volatile life) and are thus not as efficient (unless you are making lots of cata decks for gold anyway).

So that leaves us with two contenders, rogue decks and vanilla epic decks. So how do they compare?

      Some math:

Classic decks (using icecap/mountain silversage/sorrowmoss): 2.5 stacks per card
Rogues decks (bruiseweed/stranglekelp): 0.5 stacks per card

There are only three cards in the rogue deck, and 8 in each vanilla deck (but 12 different sets). This means you are more likely to have "wasted cards" (doublets, incomplete sets) by making vanilla cards. The amount of wasted cards as a % fall the more you make and at the scale we will need 10-11 cards per deck.

Let's now add things up and see what we got.
For each vanilla deck (let's assume 11 cards per deck) we need 11*2.5 stacks = 27.5 stacks.
For each rogue deck we need 3*0.5=1.5 stacks.

You need 14 times more rogue decks so let's take that into account, and you need to gather either 27.5 stacks of vanilla deck herbs or 21 stacks of rogue deck herbs.

If you could gather both kinds of herbs equally fast, it would be a hands down win for rogue's deck manufacturing. If you are gathering rogue deck herbs you will find that there are no areas with ONLY rogue deck herbs. You'll find a lot of other herbs that you can skip, but it dilutes the density of herbs and how fast you can gather them. How about vanilla epic deck cards? You can go to winterspring which is nearly empty most of the time and only gather mountain silversage and icecap.

That's all well and good in theory but what about in practice? I have not run rigorous tests but l337pally reported getting 40 stacks of rogue deck herbs per three hours using a profile posted on the forums. My experience in winterspring is about 70 stacks in three hours.

Since you can gather vanilla epic deck herbs almost twice as fast it is clearly more efficient.

Additionally you might be less likely to be ganked doing winterspring if you're on a pvp server. You don't have to spam the turning quest in so often or vendor quite as much crap but you have to wait for the darkmoon faire to hand your decks in.

I am not saying it is wrong to farm for rogue's deck, but per hour farmed it appears to be slower although other benefits (ooh green surroundings) may outweigh that.

      Thanks to:
      Everyone involved with making HB
marcx77 at wowhead for doing much of the math allowing me to only really double-check large amounts of it.
l337pally for letting me know his gathering rates using http://www.thebuddyforum.com/honorb...arming/28992-bruiseweed-darkmoon-exalted.html
Bryt for submitting the winterspring profile I used at http://www.thebuddyforum.com/honorb...98-[n-ground]-1-275-mining-herb-profiles.html
Certain people in wow I can't really name as it might blow my identity.

So, what is the request bit? Well, I've been farming winterspring using a ground-profile.. I am sure results would improve if there was one made specifically for flying.

Please feel free to rep if this was a useful contribution of theory (might motivate me to do it again).

By the way guys, feel free to post feedback. I promise I won't bite no matter how stupid the question might seem or if you disagree with my findings.

1337pally: Rogue decks give 25 rep, epic decks give 350 (prior to bonuses from racial/guild). Therefore, for the same amount of rep you need 14 times as many rogue decks as you need epic decks. This means that for 27.5 stacks of winterspring herbs, you need 21 decks (14 times 1.5 stacks per deck is 21 stacks for 14 decks) of bruiseweed/stranglekelp (there are other herbs that you can use such as mageroyal but you'd need twice as many of those as they only have half the drop rate of the pigment).
