^ title, talking about RL money of course and when you compare it to wow. Is it worse or better than WoW and if it's better, how much?

Since wow market has gone to shit I'm really looking for a new game.

There's really no money to be made in Rift. Trion made there currency Platinum as worthless as they could theres no Mounts/Tabards/BoE Raid Epics/ GDKP's and from even what I've seen from Rank 6 PvP toons that are geared sell for peanuts. And to top if off the Wangs have cut the platinum prices to shit Idno how they can afford electricity/internet for a measley 100 Plat for 10 bucks...When you really only farm up about 100 Platinum a day. 10 euro a day meh

How do you make money from these games? Who do you sell the gold etc to? And how can you trust them?

In WoW, in the beginning of cata I was making around $800 just by botting a few characters, now I'd make less than $300.

      EDIT: A month that is.

I think there is. And wow, 800 a month? Nice.
There is alot of money in Rift right now in my opinion. The prices for plat is pretty high. 100plat = ....13$?

The prices could be $130000 for a 100 plat for all I know because that's unrelevent for me since there's no facts behind it.

How FAST can you farm 100 plat with a bot, or how much plat do you get per hour by average? Because if you can get 100 plat in a month, that's really bad, but if you'd get it in half a day it'd be really really good. That would mean 26$ per account per day. 5 accounts would generate 130$ per day and that's sick. Even 65$ per day would be good (13$ per account) but like I said, there's more factors to it than just how much A plat or a HUNDRED plats go for.

It's when you have the per hour, or per day numbers you can start looking at prices.

Well, I heard 16plat/hour is doable. With ease.

So you're saying 300 plat/day is doable per account?

      highly unlikely

that would be 12,5 plat per hour for 24 hours straight, which is very unlikely cause rifts, invasions etc can kill you aswell as other players and other bots are stealing your mobs. Also the plat per hour is very dependant on your server

Let's look at this with realistic expectations and some math. Or skip to the bottom for the results :p

Well, I get anywhere from 5-10 plat/hr depending on if my auctions sell, if I get attacked by other players, if invasions happen, if I get disconnected/stuck, the game crashes or is updated, etc etc etc. Considering the gold farming websites charge $10/100 plat, they wont pay that to farmers. They'll likely pay out $6 or so. so if you figure an average of 5p/hr (factoring in patches, disconnects, and all that) you're looking at 120 plat/day on average. Of course if it's just a botting account it's likely not geared very well and farms slower, so let's be conservative here and say 100 plat/day as an average.

That comes to about $6/day or $0.25/hr.

I would estimate my computer uses 300watts and electricity is cheap in my town (.17/kWh) so at 0.3kWh I'm looking at 5.1cents/hr in electricity. This means we get $0.209 in profit per hour, which comes out to $5.02/day in profits, or $150.60 per month. Subtract the $15/mo fees of rift, then the cost of owning the bot (47.99 euros = 67.7331 US dollars for 3 bots per year, comes to $1.88/mo/bot) brings your monthly profits to $133.80 (or $130 if you only use 1 bot). This is assuming you never get banned and can always find a site paying for plat.

      TL;DR:

If you can run 3 bots at once 24/7 to use up the whole subscription then you'd be looking at about $400 a month in profits total, minus the initial costs of the games (+$70 if you run them all on one machine instead of 3 due to electric costs).

If you just run one bot 24/7 you'd be looking at about $130 in profits per month.

Wow, I sure do get bored at work.

Ehm you subtracted the electricity cost three times. Unfortunately, most gold sellers pay way less, closer to 3 cents per platinum, but maybe I just haven't met the right folks for that yet. I know I have in wow, but those same people either pay between 2 and 3 cents for my server or they are "overstocked" or they don't buy any at all because 'moar goldz' doesn't seem to be where it's at in rift (not just yet anyway), not as much as is the case for wow where you can basically buy anything from boe/bop (raid spots) gear over real actual love to mounts and even a whole guild including 100s of soldiers serving at your command for moar goldz.

Plus, the electricity cost where I live is closer to €.3 than €.11. Pretty rough and among the reasons why I gave up farming bitcoins, just not worth it anymore.

Hard times... indeed... I was thinking of selling plats too... but then I saw the selling prices... and.. well first I cried then I laughed... hence, I just stack plat for now and look for better times to come... maybe....
