Rift IRC beta :)

Hello,

I have made a little tool that may be interreseting for people that are using Ryftomate :
Rift IRC.

It's an open source IRC bot for Rift written in Java.
It will connect to an IRC server while parsing the Log.txt file and
send all messages to the IRC channel. You can disable some lines in the config file,
change colors, play sound if you recieve some lines, etc.
You can also reply from IRC directly it will chat in game.

Is there a way to have it say something in IRC right after logging onto a server? I'd like to have it work with bitlbee, but that needs you to be able to send a command (just once) after joining IRC to let it know where you want IRC messages forwarded.

 

You can edit the source code and send a command juste after login

 

Looks nice! Just can't get the message forwarding working, any suggestion?

 

Can you send me a PM with your logs/riftirc.log file ?
Are you sure to connect to the right IRC server / channel ?

 

Actually, now that you mentioned riftirc.log i found the reason. Rift was not the foreground window. "ERROR IRCBot - Rift is not the foreground window.", so problem solved


Edit: Yeah, everything working well. Can read log in my N900 now, aswell as answer whispers and chat in gchat from it. Awesome work!

 

I am working on version 0.2 now, including a popup notification based on specific lines etc

Hmm, any way around the "needs to be the foreground window" requirement?

I leave Rift minimized so that my wife/daughter can use the computer during the day - so if I get a message from a GM I'll see it but not be able to reply!

Is there a way to get the bot sending the messages to a query window? Can't get it to work that way. This would make it so the messages are shown in my phone like text messages, would edit it to send whispers like that.

Actually no, I don't want my tools to be totally against rules and I do not inject any thing directly to the client. I use the basic copy / paste feature so you have to have the Rift windows on top
(like if you are playing the game you cannot send message on minimized )

What you mean by a query window ?

 

query means private message in irc land

 

yes instead of a channel you can enter Nickname and it will send it to your as private message
