I've still got a couple years left on my wow sub, its amazing what you can trade wow gold for these days (multiple 6 month prepaid wow time codes, lowerping subscription, pizza delivery, my original rift account and more). Good times! I think the only reason I ever log into wow these days is to make gold to pay for stuff I'm too cheap to pay for with actual money. Going back to wow can be quite worth it, I wish you the best.
