So last night I see my bot get DC'd on my other computer. Of course my heart sinks a bit and I realize that they've finally caught up to my outrageous botting in the last month (24/7 - 500k gold in the last 2-3 weeks with 1 bot). So I hop over on the computer try to log in and its closed. No problem the account its hacked I'll submit the form and get it unlocked in a jiffy.

Submit the form...reset the password via the email...get a response in like 15 minutes saying....this account isn't hacked, closing ticket....

      DERP

Of course the account isn't hacked. The password was the same, the IP's were all the same, no suspicious activity on the account...

:/ Did I just make the blunder of the year or what....or did I? Jumping into quick action I download and install Proxifier. I go to Google and search for "Chinese proxy servers socks" and select related tools on the left and select in the last 24 hours. Click the first link and try out the first 4 or so proxies until I found a working one. Setup a rule for chrome.exe and wow.exe in proxfier to route them through the newly found Chinese proxy. Would this really work? Hadn't I just basically blew it by being far to eager to recover the newly "hacked" account...

Via the proxy I log into battle.net using the existing, newly reset password. I proceed to change the password and add a PC Authenticator generated authenticator on the account. No other information was changed.

I close down my proxy and bring up chrome. Now my account is REALLY "hacked"...*wink* *wink* Submit account recovery form. Jeopardy theme plays...ding you have mail...

There is already an account recovery in process on this account, be patient...DOH! Guess the previous action hadn't finished...*sigh* Probably blew it again...zzzz time for sleep

Wake up...okay no new emails...lets see if the account recovery form works this time....Hrmm...authenticator is still on the account...Submit new account recovery form. Time goes by and I get the following email:

Which to me reads basically...We're pretty sure you were botting, and we're going to point out the rules we think you were breaking. In reality we're unbanning your account...

Are they really this lenient now??? Or is it just really that easy to get this shit reversed...BTW they never did remove my authenticator I added. I've since removed it myself.

I dont think it has anything to do with the proxy. I have had 6 accounts unbanned 2 times each. Same exact email. Unfortunately on the 3rd time they haven't unbanned in my experience.

Thought I'd reply to help people out with getting accounts unbanned. I've had my main account Permanently banned for use of 3rd party programs 7 or 8 times over the past 3 years, every time I sent an email stating simply that I was out of town at the time, I did not have access to my account and thus it could not have been me, make sure to state that you are a loyal paying customer. Every single time they have reversed the ban within a day or two.

Yeah, they ALWAYS unban it at least ONCE. I've had two, at the most, before losing it on the third.

hmmm, I haven't so much as gotten a slash on my account because I only use the bot for farming mats and I don't undercut so they don't get suspicious of my actions lol, fact is... Blizzard only monitors the major undercutting gig because it causes a major flux in the auction house which makes it very difficult for non bot farmers to make any gold :p

BTW, props for sharing this very informative info I'll have to remember to get some chinese proxies when and if it ever happens to me lol

I don't ever EVER post mats on ANY account (I don't even post anything on my bot accounts), yet they've banned me several times (most of them have been reversed).
"Just farming mats" is safe as long as people don't report you. That's what it all comes down to.

I had 4 accounts banned for exploiting the economy and it was becaue of either listing too many auctions or too low pricing. They were reversed, except for one who had a previous ban for this... Kind of annoying honestly. I don't get caught or whatever botting. Blizzard is just too overzelous these days...

I had a very interesting encounter. I actually DID get hacked on my bot account, through an authenticator. I, for the first time in nearly 12 years of online gaming, managed to get a keylogger through a java live chat on a gold buying Asian website. They logged my password and then waited for me to log in with my authenticator and logged in during the 15 second window you have. Someone was fucking standing by waiting to take my shit from me. They logged in and started map/speed hacking (I could tell because I eventually got it back) and it gets closed.

I contact blizzard and ask for a recovery and the representative straight up said, "We see that you've been compromised but we have reason to believe the account was in violation of the ToS even before the compromise so the account action will stay."

Fast forward through literally 8 more tickets/recovery requests and the action was reversed. I even changed the story up several times ranging from admitting my guilt to blaming my brother for stealing my authenticator and using the accounts to bot while I was on vacation, proving that persistence is the only thing it takes to get your accounts recovered. I will admit though, I have not sold a dime to china since. I only bot for casual use now.

      DUDE!!!

I use this technique every time!

      1. Banned
      2. I open up a vpn across the country
      3. Open up WOW.exe and try to log in, it says "detected change in location, locking account"
      4. jump onto battle.net, proceed to do password recovery and change password. Then i open wow.exe again and login, but it says "account is banned"
      5. Disable vpn, and go back to my normal bot-vpn assigned to this account - log onto battle.net and proceed to do 'hacked account recovery".
      6. Wait a couple of hours, and i get the email you got above 9 times out of 10. The only times it doesnt work is if you get unlucky and get a good GM who checks that you are full of crap and account was never hacked - or two if you have too many 'hacked' reports and they request ID.

Thanks for the tip about the 'authenticator' ill use that too from now on, to make it look more legit it got hacked. I just dont get how lazy these gm's are, their system will show "yes two seperate IP's were used recently", but the new IP just showed up 5min ago LOL.

I'm gona see if i can unban, some old 6month banned accounts with this, may still work. I just hope they don't pull the ID-proof trump card, cause then its for sure unrecoverable.

Not all accounts are recoverable. I lost my main account a few years back in the single banwave that Gatherbuddy had, over the whole Luafoo crap. There was no amount of emailling to get that account back. I tried everything. If its a software detection ban, I'm pretty sure there's no reversing it. ;)
