      Hi!

My question is how "safe" is it to bot bgs with a range dps class. In my case a mage. Now I know botting is never really safe, but if you'd compare botting a mage with a healer. Would you say that it would be much riskier?

      Thanx!

The reason why healing is so favoured for BG is because people are really reluctant to report a person who is keeping them alive and it also looks more natural in its movement, not sure which Mage CC's have good movement for combat as I've not really tested them beyond using a couple CC's while levelling.
Of course ideally you want a Frost CC that keeps distance while nuking down people, Frost Mages really are OP in PVP.

I'd say the order of safety is:

Healer > Ranged DPS (caster) > Hunter > Melee (not rogue) > Rogue.

Healers are just the most natural. They go to big fights, they defend the FC. It's their job, and thats what BGBuddy tends to do.

Ranged DPS casters after that, because ranged DPS is much more lenient on movement. Sure, a good PvPer will move a lot and be good at getting out of melee, but there are lots of baddies out there that just stand & nuke.

After that is hunters. Same as casters, except when they don't try to run/kite they're just plain bad.

Non-rogue melee after that. The movement just isn't natural.

Rogues dead last (in my experience). Movement is vital to rogues and I've yet to see a CC for rogues that didn't play like garbage in a BG.

The Glue plugin makes rogue and melee play a lot more natural movement wise but unfortunately has issues with stability.

I'd say hunters have possibly the absolute worst movement code at the moment the Zelhunter CC looked promising but I'm not sure if/when it will be released.

Yes, the hunter movement code is terrible, but as a ranged class they still tend to stay pretty competitive compared to melee [in my experience]. They're terrible when it comes to 1v1, but in a BG, they tend to get enough shots off to look like a legit player, just a bad one when it comes to kiting.

mages never have good movement, because if someone wants you dead, your going to die, the only thing you can do is try and survive and stay alive as long as possible to pump out enough dps to hopefully kill your target, thats the main goal of amplify in frost mode, and it does that rather well, since it can win most 1v1's depending on the class.
