Hey guys, I've had quite a bit of success over the last month or so with gatherbuddy, upwards of 50k so far banked, but over the last couple of weeks I've noticed a fresh influx of bots on the auction house selling. Now, don't get me wrong, they guys that post 15-20 of each herb are cool and they don't tend to drive the prices downwards. I won't undercut them by any more than 1% and they respect the same. However, the recent influx have been listing multiple pages of herbs and ore. 300 stacks of Lichbloom and 10 stacks of frost lotus for example under-cutting by 25%. Then another guy comes along under cuts them, they cancel and relist at 30 or 40%. How do you guys cope with competition like this? Undercut further? diversify your product? Old school ore is selling well atm, but can't gather at the same rate.
Take into consideration that I bot for personal use... If this happens (and it happens every now and then) I rather craft items from the raw materials and sell those (herbs, I'd make an alchemist and create flasks, with elixir mastery you can make up to 5 times the amount of flasks with 1 craft). Same goes for ores (jewelcrafter or blacksmither). But that's just personal preference ofcourse.
Yea at this time with gold in your bank buy the low mats and use them for other items, or sit on them till the ah goes back the other way again in a week or 2, (as it will), and you will make a decent profit form buy low and sell high tactic.
I never undercut more than 5% but usually only 1% is my norm. If there are too many items up I don't post because it's useless to undercut everything and ruin the market. I just bank items and use it for myself or wait till someone in trade is in need of something I may have. I do not smelt any ores nor prospect them, I pretty much leave everything raw until someone is looking for them then I offer to make potions/flask, tailor items, smelt or prospect ores. I'm patient enough that I just wait, I'm still making gold from items i sell to vendors or items I disenchant for my supply of enchants. Morga
Unless you are trying to corner the market and drive your competitors out of the game, there isnt reason to undercut more than 1copper for maximum gold generation.
If it happens more than once, I send them a letter telling them that "they will make much, much more money if they only undercut by a silver, or a copper, etc. People will always buy the cheapest product, and they rarely buy thing they don't want. If they do want it, theyll buy it. If yours is 1 silver less, they'll buy yours. " I'm never mean about it. Usually since they're botters the attention scares them and they just vanish for a while. But some have started posting smart. If they respond with the proverbial "FU", then I let them know that "I'll just be undercutting them by one silver anyway, and they'll make half what they used too, and so will I, and I dont care cause all I do with the gold is buy vanity pets." Heheh.
I sell my titanium ore for a fixed price to a private buyer. any ores that appear on the ah that are at or below my fixed price I buyout and COD them to the private buyer.
I completely agree. although this particular guy is either a bit dim, desperate for gold or purely relying on an auctionhouse mod to list. We've enjoyed pretty stable costs for herbs over the months. 15g-20g per stack for adders tongue, 45-50g per stack of Lichbloom. In the course of a week of him undercutting, adder's tongue is 5g per stack, lichbloom 15g per stack. He's currently got 150+ auctions of each listed. If undercut himself, he cancels and relists undercut again. Frustrating, but I'm sure it'll be flagged sooner or later. Until that time, I powerlevelled jewelcrafting and inscription last night and will use the time to to level.
requires: Alchemy go buy 20x Pygmy Suckerfish for about 20g and make them into 30x pygmy oil. then sell them for 100g+ ( depends on your server )
