did the dev's let this bot die or what? cause i haven't seen any progress with the questing profiles and no word on a BW update or anything for quite a while now
well it does what it claims to do. it does questing pretty decently with a bunch of babysitting. with so little interest in swtor and so little sales of this bot you can't expect much more than that. right now hb and db forums have like 200 viewers each and this one has 1 and tankleader has 3. this gives you an idea of the sales of this bot.
My own fault but I guess I should have saved my money, because buying this bot was a complete waste of it. Everyone should get a full refund as it does nothing it is supposed to do or is stated that it does. I dont think I have ever seen it do more than 2 quests without having to be stopped and restarted.
Ah hem, we sold this as a grinding and gathering bot. It can also do daily quests. We have added support for ships and quests, but there are various issues (for free). Please do not complain for something that you didn't buy, as you didn't buy a bot that advertised questing or ships
Ah hem I'm just saying , you should read your post on the Buddy Wing at your service... it states all kinds of things the bot (will be capable of doing on this date and that date)... well those dates are long past. I've bought $1 trials every few months to see if the bot was actually functional as it is supposed to be and it isn't. Perhaps the sales would go up if the devs at least took time to update the forums and the bot. I know I come back and check every few weeks for progress and never see.... any. The same profiles have been listed for 3 months and half of them don't work, pretty much at all. They don't do class quests(in most cases), and the gathering also is buggy as hell. And, yet again ALL over the sales page Buddy Wing: The Old Robot the 3rd party Bot for the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic, the forum posts for the bot , it says, that the bot will be able to do this and that and all kinds of wonderful things on July 1st and August 1st and every other date imaginable. But, those dates have come and gone without even so much as an update to tell us why it's postponed, and the text left not updated as well. The sales WOULD go up, if people reading the sales page didn't see (The bot will have all features on July 1st) .... People are going to think it's a dead project if the date is from 2 MONTHS ago?
They did abandon it. They realized they wouldnt make enough money off of it with the declining playerbase
I was under the impression that this bot would be a space bot mainly because of the name.. Buddy, as in the products name, "Wing" as in space ship wing/Plane wing etc.
Maybe soon it will become more popular because they go free2play in some time and then there maybe is some more interest !
f2p isn't until late as in end dec 2012 or spring 2013 they announced it but I'm sure they'll fuck it up like they have the rest of the game already
We indeed aimed to include this in the bot, but the fact that they have evidently had two different companies or at least teams working on space missions on the one side and the rest of the game on the other side complicated things greatly. What we have now is pretty much the best that can be done from a background botting space mission perspective. They have done things completely ass backwards, which is making our lives miserable when it comes to space missions. We have not abandoned it and BuddyWing will continue to get updates for patches for a while to come. However, you are correct that the game is in heavy decline and the people that do play it are Star Wars enthusiasts, not the average MMO player who likes to have the benefits of a bot on the side. That said, the project has not been abandoned and is still being looked after. As Kick mentioned earlier, it was intended as a grind bot and a gathering both with the capability of doing quests, and it does just that. It's not a very good game, from multiple perspectives. Even though they have shown in the recent past that they understand that, and have announced at least an effort at making the game better, it's had hardly any result if at all. It becoming free to play is questionable as well, since the things they are going to limit for free users isn't the actual meat of the game; the leveling is still going to be available fully to all free players, with space missions and warzones being restricted to a certain amount each month. And let's be honest, the main reason people are going to dig into this game in the first place is the story line; they'll simply abandon it after they have had their story and move on to other, better games. Guild Wars 2 being a prime example right now, that game has brought so much innovation to the table it's beyond believe.
I remember back in the early days when WoW first came out for me it wasn't exactly a world beater of a game in it's first year but it just took off with new features and they've made it the best MMO game around now for me and nothing ever seems to dethrone it. Saying that I, even in it's first year not many MMO's could compete with it even then. It was the major player in the genre at the time and has thrived on that basis, better looking MMO's have come out and with similar features but no-one seems to match it as in my opinion people have invested so much time and money in WoW over the years it's hard to abandon it (from my point of view I've tried many times but still go back and will again when MoP comes out). Reading some of the literature on the subject of MMO's most of the 'experts' from universities agree that a F2P model is the only way to go at the moment, so people can maintain multiple MMO's and dip into the ones that catch their interest. I'm certainly unsure of the benefit but at least with a Star Wars franchise there is a huge potential player base out there, they've just got to develop it further and hopefully F2P helps them achieve it's longevity. I hope you do continue to develop the bot in addition to making updates for patches as I love the work of the team, personally I'd prefer the bugs to be ironed out in the questing, combat and general play rather than a space bot as I like the idea of the lazy raider style play with the gathering options and questing to level alts. However since I don't use botting as an income I may be in the minority in my opinion all I want is to manage to play and maintain a life away from the game, which without bots I would find extremely hard personally as I invest far too much time in games.
i'm glad to hear this. best thing would be to get rid of space part completely and focus on improving the quest and grind bot a little bit more. especially since free to play players can quest 1-50. then spend time to work on guildwars 2 bot or some new mmo with a better future. btw there was a patch today and i don't know if i can use the bot right now or i have to wait for an update?
After every patch we re-run a couple of things to make sure it works properly with the latest version of SWTOR. Having said that, we are of course always on the look out for interesting other games to make products for, and if we find a suitable game with a solid playerbase, and a decent future, then we will always consider working on it.
