If there were no botters most of these people wouldn't have a supply of mats to maintain their business, and if they did they'd be paying 200g/stack for the cheapest items.

svwraith: at least on my server (during the months where most of people where playing to beat Deathwing), there was more supply than demand, making prices go under the line of profit - it was better to sell herbs than potions. This because botters like you undercut wildly products, just because it's the same for you to sell lot for low, or even easier. In an AH without bots, this would never happen: alchemists would never sell for that low prices thinking they'd most probably buy the herbs from AH.

I personally sell only the 20-30% of the things I gather and only when the demand is higher to buy not only the cheap, but also the "normal pricing", the rest I take it for myself. I'm not that greedy, and I think it's even safer just not to be banned because of abuse of the economy.

Queen's Garnet are also getting duped. nobody who plays legit does have a guild bank full of Queen's Garnets and sells them for half the ah price

can someone explain how possible is duping? Is that some kind of GM involved business? Or is it just a hack which is something similar to teleport underground and farm mining ores?

I will not be using HB once its released straight off the bat. I can see more then half of wow botters use HB and over populate the BGS or Gathering again. Will wait till it calms down and not make my accounts noticeable to 1 week off wow too 4 days straight on it..

My opinion is that Bots are there in order to circumvent time sinks. There is no skill associated with playing bgs 24/7, farming herbs, or doing any other repetitive tasks. Therefore we use scripts in order to bypass this. They are different than aim bots in the sense that they do not circumvent the skill requirements of the game. I have yet to see a bot down top tier content. That's a good thing in my opinion.

It's actually kind of sad that people feel so strongly about a fictitious universe. More specifically, I am referring to people who look down upon botters based off their morality. IT IS A GAME. IT IS NOT REAL. People are better off spending their time moving forward in their professions, social circles, and love lives than a fake universe. Seriously, if you fall into that lot (which I'm sure none of us do since we are on a botting forum) then perhaps you should review your priorities in life? I would actually argue that people who condemn others for bypassing time sinks are in fact no life losers. Seriously, if you spend all day every day playing this game and you have the gall to look down upon others then there is something wrong with you.

This article provides some food for thought: http://www.c racked.com/article_18461_5-creepy-ways-video-games-are-trying-to-get-you-addicted.html (remove the space cause the word c racked is censored =\ )

We bot because we want to enjoy the game. We do not want it becoming a chore.

I've heard of duping also but I tend to feel them types of methods will only be released behind closed doors.

Regarding this botting thread, I've always thought that the topic of botting is quite dynamic between the two communities. Over there, people will say that Blizzard isn't doing enough whereas over here we talk precaution all the time and still have a quite active ban section. Its quite amusing how we worry about bans yet the (quest) bot when observed from another screen looks completely legit.

I won't be botting when the mop comes up I've decided. Just as an added precaution.

I don't ever farm ores/herbs with my bot, save for leveling a profession. It's just too damn risky. I mostly do Arch/professions, and questing. No one ever messes with you.

I was never quite entertained with the whole "lol look at the idiots on the wow forums.. *thread link*" when in reality, it comes down to personal ethics and complex definitions as to what cheating or unfair gameplay really is. In my mind, I'm a lazy bastard and I am cheating to get the nice things I want but too lazy to get.

Now ignorance is always histerical, listening to their theories and *air quotes* well informed */air quotes* answers really makes my day sometimes.

Duping is also real, you won't find it anywhere though. Stuff like that won't get into any of the public forums until after it's been fixed.
