So with the recent release of Mists of Pandaria?, I have decided to return to the game and to the good ol' forums, and most likely developing for Honorbuddy. This time around i'll actually be playing the game from start to finish with a group of local friends who were all previous WoW players at various times. However, I can't be expected to work for EVERYTHING . So of course I will be botting an alt along the way. So, I have a couple of questions: What has majorly changed in/with Honorbuddy that you would think would be important to me? What has changed with MoP that has negatively effected Honorbuddy (if anything)? What improvements have been made to Honorbuddy since the release of Cataclysm? What is still missing or needs improved in Honorbuddy that myself as a third party developer might improve? Thanks, Smarter
1.) What has majorly changed in/with Honorbuddy that you would think would be important to me? Kick has made questing profiles that are fairly AFK'able 1-80. Anything past WotLK is not garunteed. Dungeonbuddy is working pretty well, but still a large portion of dungeons aren't supported. Gatherbuddy2 works pretty damn well, and Professionbuddy was running very well and made gathering extremely easy with many features, but, like other things, broke when MoP hit. BGBuddy was broken, but now works fairly well again. Some routines were added to make it more functional, but the pathing has made it very noticable as a bot, as many people in a BG will run the same path throughout the entire BG in some cases. Archbuddy is broken. There are no clear ways to level 85-90 except a few grinding profiles, but we all know grinding is a very risky way to level, besides maybe AFK leveling in BGBuddy or Instance/Dungeonbuddy. Maybe i'm forgetting a few things? 2.) What has changed with MoP that has negatively effected Honorbuddy (if anything)? Everything. As if we were ready for Cataclysm when it was out, we didn't have 80-85 profiles that worked at atleast 90% afk'ability, let alone any dungeons, heroic dungeons, or looking-for-raid functionality. Now that MoP has hit, even though the BETA has been out for some time, it seems like we are back at square one. I believe most people will find there own way outside of questing (which is the fastest way to level) such as gathering or grinding to level there characters, or actually play the game. This is unfortunate, as many people were probably looking to hit 90 early to take advantage of the "expansion just came out must grind ores and herbs for that giant price inflation and make tons of gold" advantage. As stated, Instance/Dungeonbuddy barely works for half the dungeons WotLK and under. Cata was barely supported, and that was just regular. No MoP dungeon is ready. Archbuddy is broken. No questing profiles at all yet. BgBuddy is as it was before. Just the issue of predictable paths. Professionbuddy is broken (sort of). Custom classess are all having to be re-done. The list goes on.. 3.) What improvements have been made to Honorbuddy since the release of Cataclysm? Instance/Dungeonbuddy had many dungeons that were supported for all roles were included. Professionbuddy made gathering extremely easy. Archbuddy worked flawlessly. Autoangler worked flawlessly. BgBuddy was given new routines for calculating where the character should be (mostly looking for biggest fights, but still and improvement over randomly moving from hotspot to hotspot like a bot). Alot of plugins were made. Questing profiles by kick were beginning to be afk'able for cata. Flight and ground paths were getting very good. Barely able to hit a spot where the character gets stuck. Anti-stuck routine added rather then being a seperate plugin. The list goes on.. 4.) What is still missing or needs improved in Honorbuddy that myself as a third party developer might improve? I think i've gone over all of this. Let's recap and keep it short. Archbuddy is broken. No mesh, ground or flying, for majority of MoP continent. BGBuddy looks like a bot with pathing and so many other bots in BG's. No way to level 85-90 in MoP short of Grinding profiles (and possibly gathering profiles). Maybe BGBuddy if your willing to risk it. Professionbuddy is still having issues. The list... As a third part dev? Questing profiles would be fan-fucking-tastic. Profiles for BGBuddy to make us all not look the same would be great. That's all I can think of.. Maybe some plugins we used to have that no longer work re-done to work for current HB version?
Well didn't I pick a wonderful time.... unfortunately I don't even plan to buy MoP till I get my new character to 85 or I would be recording those questing profiles now. I believe i'll put my public SVN back up and anything I make work along the way i'll release on there, guess that's a start. Be my amazing self, duh? :-D
I suppose I should apologize for my disappearance but unfortunately like most New Yorkers / Americans, I am motivated by currency =P, and another opportunity provided much more. However, I am in a recent excess of free time and will be returning to WoW ... once again =P lol
