I was banned for using thrid party programs, hacks, blah blah blah. Long story short, I reactivated an account that was available for a Cata 10 day trial. It was my account but only used to RAF level myself and I havent touched it since. I think I grinded ore and herbs for two-three days until I spent almost an entire day farming. While farming, did some chatting in general since I realized I missed a few whispers. There was alot of people around and I was a lvl 80 with lvl 40 gear. Im pretty sure this is the reason I was banned, due to player reports. I plan to dispute the ban sometime in the distant future so I looks like I had no idea it even happened. It was a throw away account anyway so I'm not too concerned, just be careful for future reference.
You aren't getting that account back, sorry to say and you should try but you aren't getting it back.
how are you so sure? the only thing i have going for me is that i moved so the IP that i logged in from is different from the one that i had been playing the account on. im pretty sure i wont be getting it back either, but why does the gear you use to farm mats matter?
Because noone that actually plays wow properly has level 40 gear at level 80 unless you are RAF. SOon as Blizzard looks into your character they know if you are raf leveling or botting ore/herbs. If a players inspects you and sees you are in level 40 gear farming mats in a 80 zone, they know you are a bot.
Eh, I have alot of toons at level 80 and 85 that I dont plan on my main account, nor do I plan on leveling them again. I guess you would suggest I dont strip them down and use them to farm mats even if I do it by hand? Also, I had no problem getting the toon to lvl 80 in this gear in BGs, and I am currently leveling a DK to 90 wearing a level 10 cloth chest piece. No bans yet, which makes me think it was an autoban.
I highly doubt you got banned because of your gear. Some people will actually follow you and watch your character to confirm whether you're a bot or not. Then they will report you. THIS is how people get banned. Also, appealing 72 hour bans is also a good way to get banned as it leads Blizz to do an investigation on your account to make sure there was a reason for your temp ban.
