How do you gear up? I've tried to keep my gear up to date, but botting makes that pretty hard. How do you guys gear up for raids?

I generally try to buy some decent and cheap gear, then run heroics. Y'all have any better ideas or suggestions? What do you do?

I just do AV and then buy full pvpgear, and then run instances and exchange when i get better. My mage is at GS 5800 atm. I know Gearscore not really measures , but atleast it points out how u stand.

If you start botting AV when you hit 51 in mixed mode along with farming, and then whatever call to arms BG is for that weekend you will get a full set of pvp gear almost all the time by the time you hit 80. The only thing that will be lacking is your weapon which can be taken care of in the AH usually.

Is your 80 going to be a farmer or are you hoping to raid with him or something? For farming you dont need very good gear the PVP gear is actually really good. I only have a few level 80 pieces of pvp and mostly 70 and on my rogue farmer he destroys anything with a few good macros setup (and no poisons). Call to Arms honor farming is definately the way to get good gear, you can get pretty much get a high end pvp set over the course of a weekend If you have a decent win ratio.

simply run heroics and the 3 icc 5man instances for easy 219 loot. as soon as you can do the icc 5mans on heroic once a day, as they drop 232 gear.
you can also setup your own raids, to bypass the gs-check for a raidinvite, and get some gear from toc 10/25.
you can also try to make a icc-rep-run for the ring.

once you hit 4.7-4.8k gs, make your own icc 4-6 boss twink run for easy and fast items.

took me roughly 2 weeks for 4.8k gs, and another two until i hit 5.8k

Great thoughts. I'll have some honor to spend on pvp gear so that'll be my first stop. Then I'll hit the heroics!

I just spend a while pimping out in PvP gear, then farm for gold which can be used to purchase gear from ah. A typical piece of icecrown 264 gear is about 8k. That's like 2 nights of farming? So 6 nights of farming = 3 pieces of gear which is probably more than you'll get from raiding ICC once a week. Obviously you can't fill every slot with this method though so some raiding will be needed.

The ilvl 264 PVP gear is better than anything you find in heroics. And its easy to farm with the bot at 80. IMO just get fully kitted out in pvp gear before you do anything else. For weapons, you can farm the ICC 5 mans more than once a day. Maybe get some gold together and pay a tank to Que for whatever dungeon drops a decent weapon. Garfrost is a good candidate, drops a great caster staff, and a great 2h mace for Plate DPS. He is the first boss in Pit of Saron, and you can easily get to him in one trash pull if you are careful. Just zone in, kill him, zone out, reset all instances and zone back in.

OR, just get a few thousand gold and buy a battered hilt.

I'd love a plugin that lets you build up a "wishlist" of PvP gear, and when enough honor points are earned, it purchases each item on the list. I've been getting so much honor, I cant AFK too long, or i hit the honor cap. This is a fresh 80, so I need all the wrathful offset, and the Furious set stuff. And once I'm maxed pvp gear wise, I'd love it to buy the honor gems, just so the honor points arent wasted.
