Hello, I'm new. I haven't bought HB yet, but I will most likely do it soon(in a few hours or tomorrow).
I have looked at the docs and the API seems to be pretty easy to use. I will probably be using kicks profile until I have made my own.
A few questions I have about HB:
How long should I have the bot run?
Should I always watch it(I will have my old computer run it)?
Should I use a Virtual Private Network so blizzard doesn't notice the link between my main account and the bot account?
What will happen to my main account if they notice the link?
How many accounts have you been banned on, and how long have you botted?
What do you consider safe botting?

Feel free to give me tips.

      Every answer will be appreciated.

For me, it depends on what are you botting. I quest about 2hours straight, then stop take a break, change character, do some gathering. I don't gather the same region more than an hour. I manually switch profiles to another region after an hour or so, depending on market demands. I also use the combat bot to do my daily dungeons/weekly LFR semi-manually (botting just the rotation). Make it look human.

Should I always watch it(I will have my old computer run it)?
If you want your account to last, the question is obvious. Yes. If you don't mind, you can leave it running but you risk getting reported, and reports lead to a ban.

Should I use a Virtual Private Network so blizzard doesn't notice the link between my main account and the bot account?
Just don't have any connections between main and botting account. Don't trade stuff or gold and you should be fine. Keep them in a separate guild too just in case.

What will happen to my main account if they notice the link?
      Guess what!

What do you consider safe botting?
Safe is only what you can afford to lose. No one will say "this is 100% safe".

Avoid BG botting. Gatherbuddy isn't so safe nowadays (depends where you gather ofc). Questing(supervised) is considered to be a bit safer. Dungeonbuddy needs supervising too, as it acts quite bottish.

All these may seem a bit not_so_encouraging to start, but they're not. You just have to find your own way doing it. Some risk a lot more than others, some are luckier and last longer, some get banned as soon as they start.
You just have to try yourself. Good luck.

Ok, thanks. I will definitely be monitoring the bot at all time. I will be quest botting 1-3 hours a day and farming 1-2 hours.
I have a pretty good guild with more than 100 members and above level 15, so I will use that to launder the gold and items. There's also normal people who contribute to the guild so it will look normal.

I run my bot as if it was a human, for example, longer on the weekends and only between times that human would be awake and available to play. Obviously, you could act like a jobless hardcore gamer and have it run 8am to 11pm with a couple of breaks.

Should I always watch it(I will have my old computer run it)?
Without a doubt yes!, your bot WILL get stuck, even on some 'afk' profiles get stuck, i have dual screens so usually play one account by hand and the other screen has my bot on to double check it now and then, i also do this a work. Work on one monitor, watch on the second.

Should I use a Virtual Private Network so blizzard doesn't notice the link between my main account and the bot account?
To be honest, it doesn't make much of a difference. Blizz can detect ***'s, i was using one at work and logged my account, made a few auctions and got banned, they unbanned me and exlained it was flagged as i was setting auctions using a ***.

What will happen to my main account if they notice the link?
Nothing unless you have benefited. The only way they will ban a legit non botted main account is if you have transferred gold, items etc from the bot account to the main account. Most of the times, the gold or items are just took away, apart from that, they ban the bot account not the linked accounts

What do you consider safe botting?
Act like a human, use addons like jumpy etc, this makes your toon jump now and then as you're running. After patches, wait for a couple bugs to be patched by HB then start botting. Use logMeOut, this will log you out if someone whispers you, follows you etc etc. Watch the Chat is also good, alert you if someone whispers you, i got notified when my bot got stuck and someone /w me and said 'nice bot' i quickly replied saying 'nah on the phone to my girlfriend and had auto run on'

Everyone will have different opinions on safe botting, that is mine, some may disagree. i find its best to read around, combine all the suggestions and use the ones mentioned the most or that have evidence to support it helping!

      Good luck!
