Just leveled a huntard from 60-85 had no issues equiping new weapons including bows/xbows/guns... as nuclear stated, it might be that you have not picked any up yet?
I'm running a Warrior at the moment and at level 62 he still doesn't have a bow/gun. I find it unlikely that there hasn't been a quest yet with a bow/gun as reward. I think the original poster has a point. Can't confirm this with logs though....
Buy a axe/bow/gun, make sure you do not equip it and just keep it in your bags. Start the bot up and see if it will equip it.
Just leveled a warrior to 85 and I confirm that AutoEquip2 works fine equipping Range/Throw Weapons. There are no issues- you probably never had any range weapon in your bag for the plugin to equip.
